I mean, based on the rumors about his stance on wearing rainbow jerseys/numbers/armbands/whatever it was, I don't think it was just his spouse who was being problematic.

Those rumors really don't have much evidence to them though, so while he's a POS, let's stick to what we know. I asked some former players who were on the team last year about it and they had no idea what I was talking about.
Hey all y'all (or YINZ if you prefer). Long time no post. Once this season went into quarantine I checked out and haven't thought once about MLS or the Fire until I heard about Katai and thought..."Oh man...I gotta check into Big Soccer!" It was like I forgot I enjoyed posting here and have been down so many political rabbit holes and doing home repair and the wife is up in Covid land every day so it's been stressful. Anywho...Katai...a Serb...Racist? Wow...who'd a thunk it? I have a German buddy (sensible lefty) who has a Czech wife and boy oh boy. One thing that I noticed is this is really one of those moments where it's like the family left for a hotel for the weekend so the exterminator could set the Real Kill bug fogger bomb off and now the racist cockroaches are all coming out of their holes, dying on the counter top and slithering and shaking erratically across the floor from underneath the sink. It's like the fear and outrage has doxxed them all at once and even Godell that POS had to walk back his decades of racist drivel (business decision obviously not sudden morality discovery). It's really remarkable. Katai was my favorite player last year and I didn't know he was a homophobic (possibly) racist douchebag. Bummer. I don't see why people can't just be f*cking nice? It's not that hard. By the way...top marks for anyone who made the Katai-Far Right Winger joke.
You should look up his response. He had a much better statement than the Fire has had. He denounced white supremacy and even included the phrase black lives matter, two things the Fire have refused to do. Group think and FOMA are going to force most people onto the Katai-hate bandwagon but his statement at least deserves a read.
Do you think he actually wrote it? That has been the knock against it. Personally, I don't think that matters, since it is in his name. There were three competing threads in the statement: 1) That racism is not tolerated in his family. That is clearly untrue, since it happened in his family. 2) That he takes responsibility for it. That is clearly true, since he agreed to leave the Galaxy, walking away from hundreds of thousands of dollars. 3) They will learn and improve. I sincerely hope that is true. It is a very unfortunate situation. If he is NOT a racist douchebag, but only married to one, that is very sad and I hope he is able to straighten out the situation. If he is, f him back to Europe.
Hey all... Of course I've been away and not following what's been going in the soccer world in long time. So today I decide to check and read around... and... oh...oh no. Sigh. The Galaxy did the right thing.
I did read it and it was good. That someone would be fired for their wife's stupidity and ignorance is a real sketchy slippery slope for me. These decisions are above my pay grade but what's done is done. That folks don't know how social media works at this point is just mind boggling.
What's even more of a head scratcher is the younger folks who grew up with Social Media seem to not understand that the shit they post there will follow them forever. The internet doesn't forget.
