Nothing personal, just a pizza decision by the Matans Apparently Imo's > Donato"s (Imo's sucks IMO ... as does the soccer team)
The guy we should have kept is Corey Wray. He hired Damet and signed Matan. But we wanted Issa Tall. Brilliant.
My guess is that motherhood has probably changed Mrs Matan’s perspective a bit ; ) . I was still in the UK during the Great Recession, the people of Greece were setting things on fire and beating up people in suits (assuming they were bankers) during that time. And it was Bez that wanted Tall over Wray. The succession was already planned because Bez was going to head to the UK if we had purchased Sheffield United or part of Bournemouth. Hindsight’s a b*tch.
So they left Columbus because of the gun violence, so he’s going to St. Louis? because of the…gun violence?
Safety and St. Louis typically don’t go in the same sentence. I wish StL could be a great city again. It has a great older city vibe that Columbus can’t match.
No guns, but they riot at the drop of a hat in Greece and it gets quite ugly. There are multiple wide spread strikes per year too. They make France look industrious.
This was during the Great Recession (a FIVE year period for them), but there are yearly fairly wide spread riots. I love visiting Greece, but I wouldn’t want to live there.
St. Louis is 10th in the west. Cbus is 10th in the east. Tall sucks, but Wray didn't last in Montreal and it's not like St. Louis is a juggernaut so what are we talking about here?
I also doubt Matan felt he’d end up (1) initially without a club; then (2) at a club in the UAE (for which, I don’t think he ever made an appearance); and then (3) playing for Greek club in a 7,000 seat stadium. Perhaps Matan felt his skill level and MLS resume (including winning a championship) would open some doors, lead to opportunities in Europe. Not so much, it seems. And so back MLS he comes. Where he probably should have stayed all along.
Also, for the record: Fu*k the Savannah Damn Bananas. They're not playing baseball and they're ruining the entire sports experience.
They are one of the only entertainment options out there not using a private equity model to bend over fans. The entire ticketing process is egalitarian lotteries. All tickets are priced to be affordable for families. They have no dynamic pricing on anything and no in-stadium ads. All games can be streamed live for free and they don't do any traditional commercial breaks. It's pretty shocking that you'd hate them when their entire model is built around fan experience and treating their customers with respect.
How do you feel about Cosmic Baseball? It's baseball under black lights. I assume the rules are fairly close to actual baseball. https://chilipeppersbaseball.com/
