Middlesbrough beat QPR 4-0 and Aidan Morris was selected as the MOTM. It's looking extremely likely that Middlesbrough will be in the Premier League next season, and Morris has really cemented himself as a fan favorite and a key piece for the team.
https://www.mlssoccer.com/news/derr...spensions-from-mls-for-betting-on-mls-matches NEW YORK (March 9, 2026) – Major League Soccer has issued lifetime suspensions to Derrick Jones and Yaw Yeboah, neither of whom is currently under contract with an MLS club, for violating the MLS Gambling Policy. After receiving suspicious betting alerts through integrity partners, MLS retained the law firm Patterson Belknap Webb & Tyler LLP to conduct an investigation, and the players were placed on administrative leave pending the completion of the review. After reviewing the results of the investigation, MLS concluded that the players engaged in extensive gambling on soccer, including on their own teams, during the 2024 and 2025 seasons. In one instance, both players bet on Jones to draw a yellow card during an October 19, 2024 match, which he received. MLS also determined that the players likely shared confidential information with other bettors about their intent to draw yellow cards. No evidence was identified that suggested any of these betting activities affected the outcome of a match.
Wow. These guys should get a global ban. Not that that would effect Jones at all. Yeboah ran off to China though, and interestingly enough scored in his debut a couple days ago. I wonder if other guys in the locker room where aware of this as it was going on.
Does anyone truly think that if MLS had found it affected an outcome of a match that they’d report it?
Jones or Yeboah? I hated Jones ever since he got that red in his first match... Now I wonder if that was a prop bet... A yellow is one thing, but a red is another.
I looked it up, Yeboah was getting $663k, Derrick Jones $347k - how much do you really really need when living in Cbus? Is it worth risking your career over? Absolutely stupid to bet on your own team and prop bets you can manipulate. Hell, I would not be surprised to see the betting company try to come back after them for any winnings, if that is possible.
This would maybe explain the disappearance of Yaboah in the second half of ‘24. From what I remember he couldn’t sniff the field. He did get into one of the Leagues Cup matches and scored then disappeared again. Jones saw extremely limited action last season. Nancy knew for sure.
To be fair, Derrick Jones had 11 yellow cards in 2023. To think that he could get a yellow card in a match wouldn't exactly have been a game-shattering experience. Not that that's remotely the point.
Also to say a yellow card doesn't significantly impact a game to the point of potentially impacting outcome is specious
As a Guardians fan, that really p!sses me off about Luis Ortiz and especially Emmanuel Clase. They will never see the pitcher’s mound again.
Remember Zack Steffen? Sheesh... no complaints here 🤷♂️ pic.twitter.com/t1CahIhbaA— Toronto FC (@TorontoFC) April 4, 2026 For anyone wondering why Zack Steffen no longer gets called up to the USMNT, here you go pic.twitter.com/C8dYfSj8Pz— American Ultras Talk (@usmntaut) April 4, 2026
Some speculate that Zac had elite athleticism that made up for his poor positioning and goofs. Once his knee and back started acting up, he couldnt recover, especially without game time to hone his skills
Nailed it. Super athlete, but prone to blunders and poor positioning. Sitting on the bench for however many years collection a paycheck didn't help.
