The PL is far deeper than the Bundesliga, and the speed of play is quicker. The Bundesliga would definitely be a big jump for him, maybe too big, but I think he would fit better there than the PL.
Never change CP New England Revolution head coach Caleb Porter on tonight's refereeing:"All I can say is a complete coward. The referee was a complete coward in that moment and it’s a travesty..."I don’t care if I get fined, I don’t care what Don Garber says.” https://t.co/1UqVyyo6zl— Tom Bogert (@tombogert) September 8, 2024
Andres Mendoza owns a pizza shop My brother Derrick (aka Brother Bone) is in Peru, home of former Crew player Andres Mendoza. Apparently, he will deliver your pizza if you order from his place. My guys. pic.twitter.com/hKR9q8zSJL— Jonathan Smith (@DegenerateTBone) September 15, 2024 This is a real thing...I cannot stop laughing. pic.twitter.com/0zwylRXgVX— Jonathan Smith (@DegenerateTBone) September 15, 2024
The Condor was a prototype Kei Kamara. In spades. I think he was 3rd or 4th in the league in goals. But he couldn't get along with anyone. His attitude was so crappy that the fans were turned off. He was lackadaisical, indifferent and treated teammates, coaches and fans like shit. It was just terrible. Coaches tried talking to him about it, he reportedly more or less told them to f*ck off. He was just straight cut because everybody hated his ass, and the team basically said so publicly. He had knocked around half the league's in the world and nobody kept him for long, no matter how many goals he scored. A very strange case. I hope he's nicer to his pizza customers.
I remember me, and everyone else at Crew Stadium, booing him after he scored the pk. He stole the ball from Cunningham so he could take the pk, instead of Cunningham, who I believe was set to tie the league record for most career goals scored. A few teammates, including Captain Chad Marshall, tried to tell him to let Cunningham have it. He waved them all off. We were actually booing one of our players after he scored...He responded with an arrogant gesture to the team bench and Crew supporters. Some great old-time MLS memories for sure!
Were you there when Eric Denton "flipped" the fans off? Whether or not he did was debatable. He may have scratched his ear using his middle finger or deliberately flipped people off is anyone's guess.
Crew homegrown, sold to Colorado for good money, ripped up a knee. Was pretty solid defensively but with the ball at his feet not so much. Probably back living with mom and dad in Westerville trying to get his career back on track. Has a ring from the 2020 Cup.
I was there, and I was in that section. Whether or not the finger was involved was debatable, but he clearly gestured towards us in a way that let us know he wasn't appreciating the criticism.
This thread helps with those of you who have fuzzy memories -- Denton Saga with a bonus @hangthadj truth bomb
"Frankie Hejduk is a better player, period. He's more fit, he hustles, he has a better attitude, and he defends better." Truer words have never been posted.
Congratulations to Crew Legend Kei Kamara for scoring a goal and winning the 2024 Lamar Hunt US Open Cup Final, honoring Columbus Crew's founding owner I/O, and calling on Don Garber to honor and recognize US Soccer History. #RespectYourRoots #EternalChampion #HeartShapedHands
I would beg to point out that the Kamara goal was not the game winner, despite what I've seen people saying. Not to in any way diminish it, but the one he scored in the 119th minute was an insurance goal.
Yeah. Insurance goals matter, though. I can't take away from the fact that he scored a goal in a Cup Final when the outcome was still in the air. I can point out that he has the same number of trophies in 18 years that the Crew have won in eight months.
