There were more than 1 or 2 people here that said Kei’s trade request was insane. That no club would be willing to give up anything significant for a 38 year old who has played for so many teams. Lo and behold, the third leading goal scorer in MLS history, one of Montreal’s best performers from last season still is seen to have value in this league. So much so that this trade shades former wonder boy Bez, and a former Crew captain. What a player. What a gift for Chicago. What a gift for MLS fans to see Kei play for his record tenth team. A true legend of the league. An all-time great on the field, and a greater person off it. Glory, Glory Kei Kamara!!!

Reminds me that in 2020 I lost auction bidding for Lamar Jr's 2008 championship ring. Wonder what lucky Crew fan outbid me. Ended up just below $1000 and I kick myself today for not getting it.
There's a similar story about a 2002 USOC winner's medal. IIRC, the highest-bidder moved and then gave/sold it to the person who lost out. (A bunch of us got the opportunity to wear one at a preseason event in 2003. I think it was the "Individual Tickets On-Sale Today" preseason match.)
How do I register an account to nordecke.com to add something to my cart? I can't even add a Nordecke membership. I swear I've ordered tickets from that site in the past--but my email says "unknown user." The My Account tab doesn't give an option to register.
It was such a beauty really. I made a stupid mistake of continuing to bid it up instead of waiting till the last second to swoop in for it. Got up over $900 and I gave up with only two of us bidding. Always wonder who got it. The next best thing from hoisting the 2008 MLS Cup is owning a Black & 10K Gold men’s ring and matching women’s pendant! Bid now to support our Garden Party! (You don’t need to attend to participate!) Auction closes at 8:45pm on Sat. Sept. 19. https://t.co/LUgiSfaa1x pic.twitter.com/yS1pLWJ2Bc— Cristo Rey Columbus High School (@cristoreycbus) September 14, 2020
My best memory from 2008 was being in charge of the Cup at the airport for about 20 min while Dave Stephany was handing press stuff.
I'll never forget that night at the airport. Feels like a lifetime ago, and it would never happen in MLS 3.0. I'm so glad I was a part of it.
I would have looked at it as an investment. It's bound to be worth more down the road. Maybe not a fortune, like a Honus Wagner card or something but enough to make it worth the trouble. Or at least that's what I would have told my wife, and she loves me enough to pretend that she believed me. It's a little like those bastards who have original Budweiser Crew neons. I would still kill for one of those. Somebody gave me a heads up on one at a flea market and I drove two hours for it but it was gone. There was also one in that bar that closed in Delaware but I could never get ahold of the right person before somebody scooped it.
It wasn't that long ago when the team was welcomed home at the private/VIP terminal. But that was also "ago" and "VIP terminal." In a few years, I wouldn't be surprised if fans aren't invited. FWIW, I remember getting emails with team flight info including departure/arrival times and airline info. Anyone who wanted the info could have flown with the team. The times have definitely changed for better or worse. Even though the times changed from (say) 2006 to 2013 and that was 10+ years ago, there's still a small number of fans who miss the personable relations of the MLS 1.0 days. The ironic thing is that we all wanted to advance to MLS 2.0 in order to compete (on and off the field) with teams like RSL and Toronto who were MLS 2.0 teams.
My daughter as a 9 year old. Sh begged me to take her to the airport that night. Got individual pictures with just about every player!
