You don't buy-down salaries out of the owner's personal bank account.

You CAN buy-out one contact per year, pre-season, that way. And the obvious choice there would have been Molino.

In the end, though, the Crew would have had to have had sufficient GAM to have bought down Zardes last season.

Bez said they wouldn’t do that and has double and tripled down on how good our roster was/is

I think Bez is the problem and changing coaches might help but it won’t be the answer

I think we're all well aware of what you think the problem is. So did Bez bench Zardes, or did Porter maybe have the tiniest say in making up the stating XI?

And what did Bez say we'd never do? Buy out a contract? Buy down Zardes with GAM? Whatever it is, where and when did he say it?

He said we won’t see another big money DP, he did say it wasn’t likely but it was implied that we are not going to do that because our roster is already really good.

When did he say this outside of the context of us not having any DP slots available currently?

The GM should have been more focused on a winger than replacement for Zardes. We definitely could of bought Zardes down but we thought we were smarter than we really are. Then we lied about shopping Zardes and the cover up was starting Miguel. Don’t matter how much Bez or Porter wanted to do it. Bez is in charge of the Roster.

How much GAM did we have in order to buy down contracts?

I think Bez did say last preseason that we could free up space for another DP if we needed to. That would have meant buying down one of our then current DPs and Zardes would have been the only one eligible. It would have taken about 420K of GAM to do so. Plus cap space for the next DP.

I mean, I thought i would just take a quick peek.

Now I’m laughing too hard to fall back asleep.

The shipping charges were the final push over the edge. Like not even the simplest courtesy of a reach around.

He's the guy who sat near the tunnel at HCS for years and successfully begged players for their jerseys.

Just got done watching some Milton Valenzuela highlights. man. What a left back. Would be awfully nice to have him here. Yes, he was hurt all the time but it would be nice to have Sands as a backup for Valenzuela in the inevitable event he gets injured again.

I can't say to know much of anything about the Swiss league in terms of quality, but Valenzuela seems to have gotten beyond his injury issues (at least for the time being).

Since the league kicked off in mid-July, his club has had 16 regular season matches. He's started 14, playing 90 minutes in all except one where he picked up a second yellow in the 88th minute. He missed the following game due to that red card suspension, and wasn't in the match day squad for one other game.

He's also gone 90 minutes in Lugano's three Swiss Cup matches. He has the 4th highest minutes played on their roster this season.
