Ex-Clinton aide reveals Bill lost the nuclear codes Former President Clinton lost the codes to nuclear war the day the Monica Lewinsky affair broke, was MIA in the fall of 1998 when a decision was needed on the killing of Osama bin Laden, and was "too busy watching a golf match" to OK a 1996 bombing mission in Iraq, says a blockbuster new book by Clinton's former military aide. Lt. Col. Robert Patterson, who carried the nuclear "football" from May 1996 to May 1998, crosses a line no other "mil aide" has before in condemning his commander in chief in Dereliction of Duty: The Eyewitness Account of How Bill Clinton Compromised America's National Security. "This story had to be told."
Yeah, Reagan had the codes on him at ALL times. Hell, he had them MEMORIZED. Always in command of the situation, that was Ronnie. Hm. A right-wing book criticizing Bill Clinton. How extraordinary.
On the bright side, 'ol Billy never tossed his cookies on foreign leaders or lose a fight to the death with a pretzel. Ahh, the dreaded Bush family eating disorder. How long before we see one of Jeb's kin choking on cocaine?
Ian's just trying to distract everyone from the giant pink elephant taking a crap over in the corner.
I love this line from the prologue of this book, in reference to Sandy Berger's desperate attempt to get Clinton to OK an attack that would help the Kurds, who we said we would assist, and who were under seige from Saddam's Republican guard. At a time when America's honor and grander principles were being challenged and the world was watching our every move. . .the president was watching golf.
Excerpt from the book here: http://www.usnews.com/usnews/politics/whispers/documents/excerpts.pdf Among other things, Clinton alledgedly always kept his hands by his sides during the playing of the national anthem, an incredible show of disrespect coming from the nation's President. Whatever you think about the policies Clinton imposed, these things are inexcusable. Then again, so is selling nuclear secrets to Communist China in return for campaign contributions, and Bubba had no trouble doing that. Alex

For some reason, nobody told Superdave that LBJ and Truman came after FDR. So did Ike. Otoh, the lunatic Republicans should get it through their heads that Clinton bashing only helps his cause. Nobody bashes Gerald Ford anymore. Newsflash: Clinton was somewhere in between average and above average. Had he been successful with national healthcare, then he would go down as a great President. Unfortunately, his only significant accomplishment was frittered away in less than one year. In effect, Clinton made it possible for Bush Jr. to lower taxes on the wealthy. That's his legacy. Meanwhile, nearly 40 years later, women, minorities and the elderly are vastly better off because of LBJ's efforts.
There was a political journalist doing an interview at a press club. It was on TV C-span I forget his name older guy Irishmen but I am not as sure about his nationality for sure. He absolutely hated Nixon. They were bitter enemies in fact. He mentioned that he like Clinton personally. He said about Clinton his staff had a domesday file. The file was a list of names of all the women Clinton had extra marital affairs with since he was Governor and included while he was president it was a big file. The staff was terrified that these women will come out of the wood work to haunt our president. If one did rear her ugly head they would put pressure on her and her family to make it go away. ------------------------------------ One of those women was the women who played the female lead on the TV Highlander spin off series. She originally stated she was raped by the Greatest President since FDR no other then Mr. Clinton. She let it drop after a ton of pressure was put on her and her family even tax auditing them. Yes, Clinton is one good guy.
Dammit, now I'm gonna have to go buy another bulls*** detector...Richie's post broke mine. The needle flew so fast it broke!!
SuperDave do you really think I made that up? I actually saw that CSPAN interview on TV. So the journalist who liked Clinton was lying? --------------- I only heard about the rape story.
alex. you've come so far with your posts in the travel forum and then you go and say this without anything to back it up...you have now been added to the bottom of the list again. and you were so close to getting out of the bottom 1/3rd.
Golly, a story from four years ago with no detail whatsoever. You shouldn't have. No, really. You shouldn't have.
Ok, since it appears as though you truly are curious as to the Clinton-China Treason Axis, when you have some free time, go here and read the Cox Report.
This is the most damning except from that book. Clinton's allowed bin Laden got away from several times. If Clinton had taken Jan. 26th, 1993 (the first World Trade Center attack) seriously, instead of covering up the fact that the truck was laced with cyanide, and that they were trying to topple the towers to kill 10,000 civilians, then it is quite possible that 9/11 never would have happened. Jan. 26, 1993 (WTC#1) should have been the warning for Sept. 11, 2001. THE WHITE HOUSE SITUATION ROOM was buzzing. It was fall 1998 and the National Security Council (NSC) and the “intelligence community” were tracking the whereabouts of Osama bin Laden, the shadowy mastermind of terrorist attacks on American targets overseas. “They’ve successfully triangulated his location,” yelled a “Sit Room” watch stander. “We’ve got him.” Beneath the West Wing of the White House, behind a vaulted steel door, the Sit Room staff sprang into action. The watch officer notified National Security Advisor Sandy Berger, “Sir, we’ve located bin Laden. We have a two-hour window to strike.” Characteristic of the Clinton administration, the weapons of choice would be Tomahawk missiles. No clandestine “snatch” by our Special Operations Forces. No penetrating bombers or high-speed fighter aircraft flown by our Air Force and Navy forces. No risk of losing American lives. Berger ambled down the stairwell and entered the Sit Room. He picked up the phone at one of the busy controller consoles and called the president. Amazingly, President Clinton was not available. Berger tried again and again. Bin Laden was within striking distance. The window of opportunity was closing fast. The plan of attack was set and the Tomahawk crews were ready. For about an hour Berger couldn’t get the commander in chief on the line. Though the president was always accompanied by military aides and the Secret Service, he was somehow unavailable. Berger stalked the Sit Room, anxious and impatient. Finally, the president accepted Berger’s call. There was discussion, there were pauses—and no decision. The president wanted to talk with his secretaries of defense and state. He wanted to study the issue further. Berger was forced to wait. The clock was ticking. The president eventually called back. He was still indecisive. He wanted more discussion. Berger alternated between phone calls and watching the clock. The NSC watch officer was convinced we had the right target. The intelligence sources were conclusive. The president, however, wanted a guaranteed hit or nothing at all. This time, it was nothing at all. We didn’t pull the trigger. We “studied” the issue until it was too late—the window of opportunity closed. Al-Qaeda’s spiritual and organizational leader slipped through the noose. The Clinton administration never responded decisively, even when given the opportunity, as it was obliged to do, with its own “war against terrorism.” If we had a national interest in sending troops to Haiti and Rwanda, certainly the Clinton administration had an obligation in the name of our national security to deploy and use the military resources necessary to deal with al-Qaeda as its deadly presence became known and its declared war on America became public and costly. That it did not respond is a consequence for which the Clinton administration is, in my view, extremely culpable. By failing to answer the threat as it should have, the Clinton administration was guilty of gross negligence and dereliction of duty to the safety of our country, which the president was sworn to defend.
The thing that really bothered me about Clinton was the amount of stories like this that have circulated about him. There are just so many of them out there. I don't recall anything like this dogging Ford, Carter, Reagan or the two Bush's. There's no denying the guy was the Democrats' Reagan in terms of popularity and he's still got it to an extent. But I have to believe that where there's smoke there's fire. And there's been an awful lot of smoke around Clinton for too long a time.
the funny thing about this... i have seen numerous programs on television about this and they all said the same thing, we had no other option than using cruise missles on any attack on bin laden. we didnt have the resources <bombers or special foreces> in that part of the world to deal with the problem...so even though that might have been clinton's weapon of choice it was really his only choice. i will find a link if you want, but right now it is too late and i wanna go to bed.
