    Fellow FMFters,

For a couple of months now, I've been playing with the idea of making my own FMF site with so much info, you won't need to go anywhere else.

Please take a look at this page:

    http://members.aol.com/fmf2k/club/morelia.htm
(the stadium link does not work)

Please let me know if you like what you see or what would you like me to modify.

This is my first prototype for a club page. (the main screen will be devided in frames)

    ER

PS I even added a little jab for our MLS friends :D

    I can't vote...

    From the website:

"This year, Morelia forged a partnership
with the Chicago Fire, a club belonging to that toy league known as the MLS (Major League Suckers) Why bother?"

Why do feel the need to disrespect the MLS and the Chicago Fire on your website?

Other than the above mentioned, I like your website.

    Question:

Does AOL charge you to host a website on their server? What program did you use to create the site?

    Thanks in advance.

    Foundation

In 1916, two students from Mascarones Jesuit College, Rafael Garza Gutiérrez y Germán Nuñez Cortina thought of forming a team to compete against other Jesuit Prep school. Rafael and German with a handful of other schoolmates met at German’s German’s aunt’s house, located in Santa Maria la Ribera colony and formed a team, which was to be called “Record.” Nearby Mascarones Jesuit College was another prep school called La Perpetua College. A group of soccer players headed by Eugenio Cenoz had a team called “Colon.” Colon had problems fielding 11 players and thought it would be best to unite with another team. Players from Union and Record met on October 12, 1916 to further their proposals and as a result had to come up with a new name. Many names were considered but it was Pedro “Cheto” Quintanilla’s who had proposed America since they had formed a team on Columbus Day (Dia de las Americas), a day in which the Americas were discovered. The players soon designed a crest which had the map of the Americas encircled and placed a “C” and an “A” on both sides of the Americas to signify Club America. After they had created their logo, the players had to decide on their team colors. Rafael got some of his father’s navy blue trousers and a yellow shirt and it was decided amongst the group that those would be its fighting colors.

    Amateur Era

In 1917, Club America had to prove themselves in order to be accepted into the Mexican League (Liga Mexicana de Aficionados de Futbol Asociacion). Teams like Necaxa, Atlante, Real España, Club Germania, and Asturias were already members of the league. Club America’s first test came against Club Germania, a team consisting of Germans. Club America won the game and then was scheduled to play against Club España, which resulted in a draw. Club America was accepted and now formed part of the league. In 1918, the team changed its name to “Union.” The name didn’t stand too well and changed back to Club America in 1920. From 1924 to 1928, Club America was crowned league champions. In 1926, Club America became the first Mexican club to play outside of Mexico. Aside from broadening their horizons, Club America along with Atlante petitioned to reduce the number of foreign players. Shortly after the Mexican Futbol Federation was formed in 1928, Rafael Garza Gutiérrez (Club America Founder) was designated at the National Team Head Coach. Most of the players that participated in the 1928 Olympics and 1930 World Cup were players that pertained to Club America.

    Professional Era

Up until 1942, every league in Mexico was considered a regional league. In 1942-43, the first National League was established and it was known as the Liga Mayor (Mayor League). Club America remained consistent but as a result of the political and economical turmoil that surrounded Mexico City, the team suffered and experienced their first crisis. On July 22 1959, Emilio Azcarraga Milmo, owner of Telesistema Mexicano, bought Club America from Isaac Bessudo. Emilio. Azcarraga assigned Guillermo Cañedo as President and Ingnacio Trelles as coach. Many consider that Emilio Azcarraga is who revolutionized the game in Mexico. He laid down a foundation for the club’s future through investments and marketed his team both at the national and international level. The foundation he laid eventually rewarded the team with 9 League Championships, 3 Cup Championships, 3 Champions Championships, 5 CONCACAF Cups, 2 Copa InterInteramericana Cups, and 2 Independence Cups.

Somehow, i dont take offense to that considering you are a fan who stands on the fence rather than staying one one side.

You may criticize them for thier performance, but I didnt see any other team make an initiative. I also didnt see any other push to reduce the number of foreigners in Mexico. Many of the teams consisted ONLY of peninsulares, meaning born in Spain and residing in Mexico. Not even Criollos were allowed to play on certain teams, much less the indians and mestizos. America pushed to limit the number of foreigners and then Atlante soon joined in.

And even to this day... who do you see pushing to internationalize mexico's futbol. is it a coincidence that America's owners and executives are the ones who hosted 2 World Cups. They were also pushing to form the federation back in the 20s.

We paved the road and you guys have the audacity to complain? stick to Galaxy and the USMNT..

    thanks come again

    Easy there RDL.

It was just a friendly jab in the ribs, thats all.

That is why I put the "ja ja ja" at the end of my post.

Also, I don't consider myself as a person who rides the fence. I back EL Tricolor for love of my "race" and I back the USMNT for love of "country". That is just part of my reality living here in the states.

    BTW Happy New Year!

It may have been friendly, but there was some truth to your post. As in picking at them.

From books that I have read, America was the first team to play on foreign grounds back in 1926. The olympics was in 1928. I have read but (dont know how true it is) that other teams did play in Europe but the teams consisted of Europeans (peninsulares) ONLY. America played with MExicans of European decent (Criollos). Back in the late 1800s and early 1900s, there were British, Spanish, German neighborhoods and schools spawning all over Mexico City. To my knowledge, the laws didnt prohibit MExicans (whether they were criollos, mestizos, or indian) to attend them, but the gran majority of them couldnt afford them any how. Even the rich Criollos felt neglected by European born, so they basically said ************ it.. we start are own.

I guees you could say that by limiting the number of Foreigners on the clubs back then, it hurt our football. It was these European investors that had the dough to build the schools and start these clubs..but lost interest afterwards. I guess they thought why allow criollos, mestizos and indians to join our clubs. SO for many many years, Mexicans didnt have the funds to compete at the international level. But they did pave the road. One team did I could never see myself going for was Toluca. When i started to become a fan of soccer in the mid 80s, i lived in Tampico but spent alot of time in Toluca. I just couldnt see myself going for a team that had an ownerr that thought of himself as European and better than the Mexican. Him and his family spent decades and decades and had kids in Mexico who made fortunes in MExico and still consider themselves European. It was Mexicans who opened the door for him and into Grupo Modelo and started climbing the ranks. And this was a guy that took care of sheep in Spain. How much of a coincidence is it that his favorite team was CLub España. What pissed me off more about that guy.. is that he would get funding from the government and somehow funnel it to his fellow countrymen to come over to Mexico due to the spanish civil war. EvilRick says Club America is evil. My team has always done good for Mexican soccer. not like some other clubs.

Also, I don't consider myself as a person who rides the fence. I back EL Tricolor for love of my "race" and I back the USMNT for love of "country". That is just part of my reality living here in the states.

quite a dilemna you have there... but like one of my uncles use to say.. you are either with us or against us :D

Does "Monarcas" refer to Monarch butterflies? I was watching a Morelia game on Univision the other day, and I could swear I saw one of the supporters waving a butterfly net.
