Being that there are some serious losers on this board that cant even accept anyones opinions without insults (becuase only they are right) I will make 1 post where all THE FACTS of MLS and Soccer in general will be posted. The truth and nothing but the truth. Print this, tape it to the wall, read it often and pass it around. No need to read anymore, all you need to know is here: 1- Brazil will always be the Best in soccer. Period end of story. 2- The current US players are MUCH better than any US squad in its history. But Unfortunetley the US will not win a World Cup in the next 75 years 3- MLS is BADLY managed. One example: MLS tries to get the latin crowd in the stands by bring mediocre latin players from Colombia, Equador and other less expressive soccer nations.They ignore Brazil because they feel there arent enough Brazilians in the US to make a difference in attendence. So they choose player nationality over quality, maybe if they put quality on the field people would come and not only show up if some guy from there country is playing. Its USELESS to do that. 4- Pele was 3.14 times better than Diego Maradona 5- Brazil's soccer is horribly managed, but despite that still win title after title. 6- The usual idiots will reply to this post with the usual insults. 7- American play by play anouncers S-U-C-K 8- I love America! 9- Brazilian women are hot 10- If MLS doesnt make changes it will fold one day. What ever happened to the Fusion and Mutiny fans? 11- MLS regular season is a waste of time since 8 of 10 teams make the playoffs. 12- MLS has made another dumb move by cloning euro team uniforms. Another lame attempt in getting US foreign residents to watch. If anything the Metrostars for example should have borrowed the NY Mets colors. 13- For $20 a month you can watch about 200 Brazilian league games a year on Dish Network's Globo TV. 14- If you dont do 13, you have no idea what your missing. 15- If you grew up on High School and college soccer you didnt experience real soccer and your opinions cant be taken serious. To reddem yourself go watch a good league somewhere for at least 2 years (If MLS is your only option then you must watch for 10 years) 16- 99.9% here ridicule the thought of having a current superstar in MLS...but if that superstar came, you would RUN to buy tickets. 17- The 2006 WC Final will be between Germany and Brazil. Brazil will win again, this time with an even better team. 18- Do not be fooled by any scores from Brazil friendlies. Friendlies dont mean jack. 19- Adu will never be 10% of what Pele was or Maradona for that matter so stop dreaming. 20- The most overrated player in US history: Claudio Reyna. If you are lucky I will share more FACTS later.
21- There is no such thing as "cheating" in soccer. Other than of course Maradona in the 1986 World Cup. 22- If you believe there is cheating in soccer (besides Maradona in 86) you probably grew up on high school and college soccer. Good chance you are from Kansas also.

Brazil did not really dominate too much in this past World Cup either. Sure, they beat on China by 5 goals, but come on, how can you say that Brazil did not get (as Jeff Bradley put it) the "collect-$200-advance-to-the-quarterfinals" card? Sure they beat a good team in England, but the teams they had to play before that were laughable (except Belgium, who almost beat them). Then in the semis, which world powerhouse did they just scrape out a win? That's right, folks... Turkey. Don't get me wrong, they deserved to beat Germany in the finals, but they had an extremely easy path there.
Hard to imagine someone who can't figure out what a fact is would get insulted on these boards. Even for a complete troll, this was a mindless post. I'd find it hard to disagree with the poster who thought you were in the third grade. Brazil's domestic league is nowhere near the best you'll see. Out of all the soccer I see on tv, there league is the only one I'd rate as having refereeing that is consistantly worse than the MLS.
Well it pains me, but I agree in principle w/ most other point Soccer Trollinoson. However, I have to contradict these 2 poor assumptions. Even if soccer never becomes the 5th major sport here, our current development programs put us on target to compete in 2010. I doubt we'll win, but if you examine the player crop that are presently 14-25, their attributes are far superior to their predecessors. Given that the WC will be in this hemisphere in 2014, that'll play right into our hands. If there was no Bradenton and no Pro-40, I'd say we're a generation-28yrs-away, but we do and likewise we roll in talented fresh faces every year that are a bit better than the players b4 them. If you follow the history of the game, Bulgaria, Chile, & Uruguay used to dominate. Now they're also rans. The same thing could just as easily happen to any giant now. Conversely, the opposite could happen to a few well motivated, disciplined, mid-level organizations in the coming years. W/ our athletes, coaching, improved facilities and an unending stream of motivated kids, we are destined to succeed. The MLS has brought in big name stars, even some brazilian & colombian hacks too that played well domestically. Unfortunately, the league cannot afford to bust the bank for 1 big time guy when he can turn into Lothar Matius or Luis Hernandez over night. We need inexpensive, highly motivated, younger players that will work for peanuts because A)they love to play & B)they want to use their performance as a springboard to better pay like Stern John. That is all. Dismissed!
I know it's a troll, but I still want to address his points. 1- "Always" is a long time, but it's sort of hard to argue this... 2- It's almost inarguable that this is the best US team ever, but the past World Cup was the very first one which had a full four-year WC cycle where the US players were all full-time professionals. 75 years is a long time, and I would argue that the US right now is ahead of France 20 years ago. 3- MLS isn't all that badly managed. In fact, if they spent more money than they do now to bring in Brazilian players, MLS would be in much worse shape than they are now. 4- At least. 5- 90% accurate, since there are bound to be more than one example of a guy like Dwight Burgess, local announcers of high quality that get little audience nationwide. The national guys almost invariably leave something to be desired. 6- 100% accurate. 7- See #6. 8- This should have gone higher... 9- See #8. 10- True, but there is no reason to believe that MLS will stay at ten teams forever. And, every single Fusion and Mutiny fan can be found posting at BigSoccer. 11- In terms of determining a champion, I'd tend to agree, although to say that it's a waste of time is obviously wrong. Financial realities dictate that a balanced round-robin league schedule is impossible, so playoffs are a necessary evil. And, with the current parity in MLS, if you're going to have playoffs, you might just as well have every team that could possibly win the title have a chance to do so. 12- Intriguing, but wrong. If copying other teams' unis is wrong, it's no less wrong to have it be baseball teams as football teams. The Rapids' switch from Rapids to Inter is just stupid, and having the Metro ape the second baseball team in NYC would be no less so. 13- Cool. 14- Yes, I do, about 200 soccer matches a month, most of which are probably at least pretty good. I don't know where I'd find the time to watch 200 matches a month, but if I didn't have a life, I'd be all over that. 15- Obvious troll, unworthy of further attention. 16- If by this you mean a foreign, Ronaldo-type superstar, this is true, but it would miss the point. If the league bankrupts itself by bringing in thses types of players, that 99.9% would have nothing to buy tickets for. 17- This is quite a bit premature. What if Germany and Brazil are in the same half of the draw? 18- Neither, apparently, does qualifying. 19- 10% is a bit harsh, but I don't really think anyone has made the comparison seriously. If I've missed some posts where someone has, I'll just count myself lucky. 20- You're obviously too young to remember Kyle Rote, Jr. 21- I guess no one should be surprised that a Brazilian would deny that diving is cheating. 22- Stupid attempt at personal attack. I guess the first sentence of the first post was right. I know that, by the time I post this, someone will have beaten me to a few of these points. lol...most of that was opinion... i don't have time to read it all cuz i have to go to school... but for all of you that think the league is weeker cuz of tampa bay and miami... just think of this... the NBA has 15 defunct franchises... 15! again...the lil of your post that i did read was opinion... i was ready for some facts dammit!
I think Terry Gilliam's 'Brazil' was a really good independent film. I especially like the dark Orwellian feel of one of Gilliam's true masterpieces. The plastic surgery stuff was classic. Anyone else hoping for a sequel? Has it been digitally remastered?
