When did this happen? I hadn't seen anything about it?? Can't say its too suprising. I know Pablo did a good job of maintaining his composure against Blanco but I wish he would've leveled him at the time.

I just hope Blanco didn't have any sharp or heavy objects when he started swinging at people.

Yeah i hope the Nats fans in houston give him plenty of crap if he gets called up for that game. I'd image he won't but chanting "DRAGO!!!" or "Mike Tyson" when he touches the ball might do the trick.

I plan on booing lustily whenever Blanco gets near the ball.

(BTW I never thought I'd use "lustily" and "Blanco" in the same sentence)

Not that it's exactly relevant, but is Blanco a little light in the loafers? I heard him giving an interview on TV the other day, and this guy sounded like the stereotypical Cuban drag queen.

Blanco's a classic example of a quiet and shy guy who turns into a maniac when playing soccer. When Blanco does interviews he is so soft-spoken it's hard to picture him as the same guy that is one of the dirtiest players in the world.

Can't think of a U.S. equivalent. Eddie Pope is a quiet hard man but he's far from dirty.

could ya come up with an article about this? that's a crazy attitude. nobody was defending dennis rodman for kicking a photographer by saying, "HE SHOULDNT HAVE BEEN IN HIS FREAKING WAY." is it too much to ask for mexico's players to act like professionals, show a little class, a little composure?

I never thought i see this but Cuauhtemoc was pelted yesterday as he exited the Pac Bell Stadium after beign red carded in the Chivas-America match up. Chivas fans outnumbered the Americanistas (5-1) En Estados Unidos siempre hay un Chiva Hermano.

I have a slightly off topic question.

When I was growing up playing soccer, I always thought that it was illegal to grap the ball with both feet (or knees, or other parts of one' body) and move the ball while doing so. Naturally, I was surprised to see that no whistles were blown when Blanco repeatedly did his bunny hop move with the ball between his feet. Was I misinformed or has the rule been changed since my playing days?

  19. I was very hot-headed on the field when I played, but as soon as the game ended it all pretty much went away... I put my fist through the top of my water jug once (it was pretty funny, water exploded in my face and my hand got slashed), but I never went so far as to attack anyone after the game was over. That is totally unnacceptable, especially if it is the press. There have been some incidents like this in the USA in other sports, mainly baseball and basketball, and they have never proved wise in any circumstances. I am sure that Blanco will regret doing what he did forever, and that the reporter will cherish the moment for the rest of his life. I don't doubt that the reporter is a jerk, but Blanco was stupid and played right into his hands. I don't think that he is really a bad guy though... he has a lot of pride, and a lot of pressure on him and he just snapped. This incident will probably force him to tread lightly from now on, as a sincerely bad reputation will kill any chance of him playing abroad.

Does anyone else think he's the most overrated player in CONCACAF? Stick a good, athletic d-mid on him and he can disappear quickly.

not an american, but an equivalent that americans might be more familiar with is birmingham city's robbie savage. i've read that he's a really decent fellow away from the stadium.

but, geez, he's a horse's arse on the pitch.

Blanco has never, to my recollection, played well against the USA.I know he is well thought of by others, but he never seems to show up in our classicos.
