This is worth an afternoon off for me, so I'll find myself off work about noon and having a bit of lunch and a beer or two watching this.

I know we won't see Mirallas (not registered in time), but others?

Yeah I am getting off work at noon as well so I can watch. Yeah, we won't see Mirallas but Naismith and Pienaar should start.

Pretty amazing - the defense held up when we parked the bus in front of the goal! What a nice feeling to spoil Mr Rooney's visit.....

Goodison never sounded better/louder during a US broadcast.

Impressive start, worth taking the day off.

For those of you who didn't see the game, ESPN3 has a replay of the match:

    http://espn.go.com/watchespn/index/_/channel/espn3#type/replay/

I only caught the last 30 minutes, but was amazed that the "park the bus" strategy actually worked for us. Moyes has tried using it in past seasons, but it always seemed as though we'd give up a goal or two (or three) when we played super-defensively against a top team.

Of course, it's only thanks to Jags' amazing block on the line that "park the bus" was successful. I've never seen a defender stick his leg behind him like that and successfully keep the ball out of the net.

Fellaini was incredible. A performance similar to Duncan's in 2005, bossing the game and causing so many problems. His awareness of what's happening around him goes unnoticed, as well. His ability to make space, bring a high ball down on his chest and bring in other players is so good but it's not something that's new to us. He's been performing like this for a good 18 months now.

The bolded part is so true. Others just don't seem to know how good of a player he is.

Haven't been to this board in a while, see it's still pretty quiet ... which is too bad.

Great game yesterday, just so amazing to watch. Had a small viewing going in Nashua, NH and might have gained a new Toffee fan. Fellaini was outstanding, one of the best games I've even seen him play. He was everywhere. Easily MOTM, but Distin, Jags, and so many others were also great.

Now, can't follow that up with a loss at Villa.

I sure hope that doesn't happen!

We really need to put a few wins together and get some momentum going now :)

Fellaini has developed into an awesome attacking midfielder so hopefully Moyes will keep him there on a regular basis now that Cahill is gone and we have Gibson and Neville as defensive midfielders.

The commentators on ESPN Press Pass were saying that Fellaini played so well that he was bound to become a target for one of the "big" clubs in the future.

Hopefully that doesn't happen until next summer at the earliest because as long as Everton stays healthy I think the team has a decent shot at finishing 4th or even 3rd in the league.

Felli has definitely grown in the past two years. He's deceptively "not good" in that he looks like he's not putting effort in, loping around, but in reality that's just what he runs like cos he's so tall... once you get past that you see the game he plays.

Fully agree re Villa. BTW, patfan1, you're welcome to visit more often - which will help the board

I would really enjoy if this board was more active. I lurk on GOT but I can't handle some of the stuff on there.

Used to post here pretty often, but then stopped coming because there was rarely anything new... I'll get by more often.

I don't think I could handle a season with Phil Neville in midfield.

I think a combination of this never having been a high traffic board, plus some really crap seasons (not including the last ten games or so ;)) just crushed everyone's desire to talk blue. Hopefully a good season will pick this board right back up!
