I’m gonna pivot this conversation, or at least offer a different topic: the utterly inept USMNT I feel bad that Luna is coming into the team with this iteration. The collection of role players at bigger clubs are playing just like that: leadershipless role players add a coach who had something at Spurs but never since and, well, here we are. I still don’t think the US gets grouped but it’s hard to make a consistent argument they won’t
You are correct sir, sadly. I watched the the game until the subs. It was pretty brutal. Supposedly things got better after the subs but 6 of one, half a dozen of another. This team is a mess. You can break it down on why they aren't playing well or together or everything along those lines but what I see is a bunch of players that could care less that they are playing for their National Team. It certainly doesn't help that the USMNT seems to be a mess from top to bottom but to watch these guys play with such little heart, not all, but some, is really disheartening. There is a short, long way to go until the World Cup starts and things could change but it's like watching a terrible soap opera. All that being said I did like what I saw from Luna. At least later in to the game. It looked like he finally inserted himself into the game and when he spent more time on the ball the better the team looked. I was absolutely astonished that Pulisic was even in the game. That guy was Houdini out there. Maybe they figure it out, maybe they don't but this golden group of players is a lot of pyrite.
Great closing sentence. We’ve been a mess since Klinsmann was hired. I rarely bother to set aside time to watch the USMNT anymore.
Getting this discussion back on track... https://www.mlssoccer.com/news/mls-...inal-seattle-sounders-inter-miami-luis-suarez
A thread title “even more… stuff” has no track. It’s all loosely followed guidelines Happy to see the league act appropriately with at least Suarez. I’d argue it should have been more, but it’s something. Strange Busquets avoided league ramifications
The wording on Lenhart's suspension is odd. I thought he was an assistant coach. He's not listed on Seattle's technical staff webpage. Wikipedia claims he was brought on as a mental health advisor at the start of the season. Why would a mental health advisor be on the field during a game? Is that a standard practice?
I did not have Steven Lenhart as a mental health advisor on my bingo card. I guess I don't know him on a personal level, but he still kinda felt like the Gary Busey of Major League Soccer. Is there video of what he did?
On this point, I hope this was Pochetino needing to learn for himself not to play Pulisic on the right. Even if that's the case, though, it's too basic an idea to be experimenting with this close to the WC. Even I know Pulisic is only effective for the Nats on the left (not in the center, either). If Pochetino doesn't have that good of an understanding of this team at this point, it's hard to be optimistic for this summer.
Pochetino said in an earlier window that they determined Weah has his "soccer eye" (or something) on the left, so that's why he moved them. Weah has not been dangerous since.
Surprised at both actions. I expected nothing. Does MLS limit the number of coaches for a team? If so may be Seattle was doing an end run on the limit in its use of Lenhart. A fine for misappropriation of credentials is rare enough that I can’t remember one before this one.
If it doesn't come up pay walled, here's a long-form story about Lenhart's journey from Bash Brother to healer and how it all unfolded. It shows why you might hire him to help your players. https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/10...d-from-mls-supervillain-to-zenned-out-healer/
Messi & Friends are breaking up. Busquets and Jordi Alba both announced they are retiring at the end of the season.
Dallas got a red card in the 15' against LAG, and LAG has scored. DCU just took over for the quest for the Wooden Spoon. If the result holds, DCU is on 25pts, and then LAG, SKC and Atlanta are all on 27pts. So DCU has to win @ Atlanta on Saturday to lose the spoon. That is also Atlanta's last game of the season, and a loss at home would guarantee them the spoon, as they'd only have 5 wins on the season while LAG and SKC have 6 and 7 respectively. So, DCU @ Atlanta @4pm on the 18th is must see viewing! EDIT: Anderson Julio scored for Dallas as I typed this.
Galaxy avoid the spoon. They could have been the 1st team to go from MLS Cup champs to Wooden Spoon. Oh well.
@Med_Phys Now I am seeing the Chucky Lozano stuff. I was clueless as to what you were alluding the other day. For others, apparently he got into a screaming match with another player on his team in the locker room, was subbed out at half. Didn’t play their final game (I thought just due to international duty), and they might even bench him for the playoffs?
Messi is getting a contract through the 2028 MLS season (will that end in June?). I bet Miami will not be scheduled for a game at the Riot in that time.
