professional sports will be great to get back to, but like goob i'm not finding myself missing them a ton What I am missing is youth sports. I'm involved with youth soccer quite a bit here locally and have hated acting as a coach virtually. That's not how this was ever intended, especially in a team sport like soccer. I also know full well, with how pathetic I am for a "good feel" moment, that I will bawl the first time I get to see kids back to being kids while playing soccer or whatever together
My son just got into the U of U marching band, so I'm hoping to see some Ute football this year. [emoji1319] I'm not setting any expectations at this point, though.
Congrats to your son! For the rest of his life he’ll treasure having been a member. When it doesn’t start on time college football will be my biggest missed sport. And it isn’t close. Just my opinion: I’m convinced the season will be played, even if it’s not the traditional season. If not, a lot of non-football programs are going to be dropped. I’m hearing a start sometime right before or after the New Year. Which will be tough for those teams with harsh winters. The season very possibly might be reduced to conference schedules + an OOC traditional rival/independent (because of ND, BYU and other independents). They will still do a playoff I would think.
college football thrives, like no other sport I can think of in the US, on the atmosphere created in the stadiums. I don't see how those said stadiums will be allowed to have people in them by the fall. Not with the numbers they house. Unsaid in that: if you can't have fans at the games, you will lose a lot of your donors. Not all of them, but it would be foolish to think the U would keep every crimson club member if there aren't' games at Rice Eccles to attend. If you lose the donors, you'll see these big programs not have the funds (compounded by the lack of gate receipt) to operate. Which means a guy like Kyle Whittingham, somehow the highest paid employee in the state because our values as society are so strange, is going to be looked at.
Had two sons recently go through the U marching band and also participate in something called DCI which is like college marching band, but on steroids. Marching band is great for the youngsters on so many levels. My kids miss it, and both of them are instructors for a couple of local marching bands - Alta High and The Battalion. This quarantine business is killing them. Dr. Sproul is quite a piece of work, but he'll enjoy it despite that.
I'm very familiar with DCI. My son has been wanting to do that for a couple years. Fun to know another band parent. [emoji16]

I can't tell you how many times I've wished BS had multiple reaction options. Specifically the [emoji58] would come in handy very often.
We sang a version of that song in our Bicentennial Celebration at Hollingsworth Elementary School in West Covina, CA. I can't quite recall the focus of the lyrics but it something to do with the Founding Fathers, in the part of the program where our second grader-minds were allowed to contribute ideas and build on them. Hence, an original number drawn on the Oscar Meyer Hot Dog Song.
Apparently the RSL Academy picked up one, so this could have gone into that thread too. https://www.twincities.com/2020/06/...ed-could-see-more-youth-academy-players-exit/
The Revs did a drive-in watch party at Gillette Stadium for their opening tournament game against Montreal. Two more scheduled.
