NC State freshman Manny Perez is highly regarded in US Soccer at the youth level and should be a part of the upcoming U.S. U-20 team in the 2019 cycle. With a Euro passport in hand, I've heard he has interest from Spanish and Portuguese clubs. MLS will also likely be pushing getting him into the league next year with a GA deal. Either way, I think he's a one and done in the NCAA and should have plenty of options. It will be interesting to see where he lands and the decisions he makes. He was named NCAA player of the week yesterday Talk about a #STATEment - freshman @mannyP113 of @PackMensSoccer was today named @NCAASoccer Player of the Week: https://t.co/wFc88XN4WF. pic.twitter.com/0Hj0xyml9i— NC State Athletics (@PackAthletics) September 13, 2017
I would avoid MLS and go to Europe, where I might actually getting playing time this decade, and not have Peter Vermes bench me until I'm 26.
Not all of Europe is equal Not all of MLS is equal He could end up with Red Bulls and get Tyler Adams minutes which would be better than Portugal's 2nd tier.
Or he could end up as the 1st overall pick with Atlanta and play less than 100 minutes. Point being that via the draft he doesn't get to choose his final destination. At least with Europe you hope he and his agent choose a club with a set plan for him that allows him the opportunity to earn minutes in a professional setting asap.
He's 17 and has missed a bunch of time with the U-17s. I'll bet he features a lot next year People do get a little carried away with how much they expect 16 & 17 year-olds to play ( let alone for the best attacking team in the league). Perez will be 19 next year. The difference between 19 and 17 is huge

Manny is training with Glasgow celtic as we speak. Brenda Rogers is fantastic at bringing young player through and improving them. Keiran teirney, Calum Macgregor, Ryan Christie to name three of the most recent. Celtic are in need of a right sided defender since Michal lustic is coming to the end of his career.
Looking like he will sign with Celtic on Jan. 1: Manny Perez (@mannyP113) has signed with @CelticFC, the deal will be official as of January 1st per an inside source! Perez has spent the past 2 years playing for @PackMensSoccer, previously playing for @NorthCarolinaFC’s Academy & is a consistent US U20 callup! pic.twitter.com/ozWEToRHPw— DMV Soccer (@DMVSoccer96) December 20, 2018
Confirmed. He will still need to get a UK work permit on appeal - which is easier in Scotland than England. I was incorrect earlier in stating he had an EU passport. That info was given to me by a former coach of his, which was not accurate. Sorry about that.
Just don’t let it happen again. The last thing we want to do is have to put you on a performance improvement plan.
Another respected American soccer journo says this is a done deal. Just got word that this is a done deal - big, big move for a talented US U-20 (who also happens to be dual-eligible for Mexico). https://t.co/DEanRyHNdK— Charles Boehm (@cboehm) December 20, 2018

Have seen some reports claiming #USMNT U-20 fullback Manny Perez has signed w/Celtic. I’m told he’s still weighing multiple offers (including Celtic & #MLS ) but nothing has been agreed to yet. If he signs a Generation adidas deal he’s a good bet to be 1st pick in 2019 MLS Draft— Ives Galarcep (@SoccerByIves) December 21, 2018
just thought about this.... does he not just get sent back home when he doesn't get a work permit? not sure of scotland's rules.
