Hopefully he makes it to the 1st team in a few seasons, and if he does, hopefully Schalke is playing a much better brand of soccer by then because they have been painful to watch the past couple seasons.
For Evan it will be a battle of physically developing. His passing and vision are much closer to a first team player than most kids his age but it does not matter if he always gets out muscled by other players. Richie Ledezma has the same problem right now.
At least Rotundo will have the advantage of going at 16. More time for the folks at the Knappenschmiede to work on his physical development

U19 and U17 Bundesliga are expected to start in mid-September. Bundesliga West decided to play only one round instead of two. That means 17 games max (+additional playoffs).
Good first week for @evanrotundo10... capped off with a nice assist to help the team win 1-0 today https://t.co/mactamMfhr— Dom Rotundo (@domrotundo) July 26, 2020
How good is this kid? Seems like if you sign somebody that weighs 95 pounds at 16 years old he’s pretty good.
ive only watched highlights but by accounts they rave about his technical quality and vision but wonder whether his athletic limitations will cap his ceiling.
would be very interested in hearing schalkes plans to try and improve that part of his game. be some interesting sports science at the very least
Wonder how much individual attention they get. It seems Rotundo has no motivation issues, otherwise he wouldn't be there I guess. But he is one of many promising players, I presume. They will give him the shot he deserves, and it will be up to him to prove he belongs. If he is way beyond what they already have, I guess that investment in him will increase. But he is coming into an environment where the players there have already gone thru an extension weeding-out process, playing under pressure against top competition week-in, week-out for years. Obviously, he must have attributes to compete with those guys, but he will definitely be pushed.

Two more goals for @evanrotundo10 today against a solid U19 squad. 3 goals, 4 assists in 4 games. Not too bad as he continues to get used to his new surroundings. Keep workinghttps://t.co/VNrohMUtah— Dom Rotundo (@domrotundo) August 23, 2020
schalke have to be doing everything in modern sports science to amplify this kids athleticism. world class soccer brain.
