Just looked a the list of European footballers of the year and was amazed not to find ashley cole on the list.
This list along with the world footballer list is has many players that shouldn't be there.

Becks? Baros? I don't even think Reyes should be on the list

I liked the idea of having these lists and a deserving winner but its more like a popularity contest.

    Heres the list: (scroll down)

Hopefully this is Henry's year as I think he has earned it, but i suspect that he will be hurt by France's poor results at Euro 2004. I have a feeling that Ronaldinho will win. I don't think any of the other 48 players listed have a particularly strong claim.

I think it should be between Ronaldinho, Deco and Shevchenko. Henry misses out for me due to his continental and international displays over the last year. Cole probably merits a place in the list though.

That list is a complete load of crap. Barthez? Nikopolidis? Reyes? Ibrahimovic? Vieira? Beckham? Have these guys (along with about 75% of the rest of those on the list) actually put in the performances worthy of such an accolade this year? They should cut it down to about ten nominees. Even then I don't think you'd have too much trouble picking a top three.
