I'm tired of boring soccer maybe we need a European flavor right now, Japan and Korea is an example of how Eropean coaches influenced the way they play this game...

European flavor? Like caraway seed? Good for bringing out the flavor in cheeses, you know.

Huh?, Japan dropped Philippe Troussier's boring European flavor and opted for Zico's Brazilian flavor.

We don't need European flavor. We need European skill. Arena is doing what he can with what he has. What we have seen repeatedly over the last few years is that we simply cannot compete against top level competition if we have neither Reyna or O'Brien on the field. And we look horrendous doing it. We're good enough to dominate our confederation, but Martinique and Trinidad and Tobago are not Brazil and France. So we could have a coach from Europe, South America or Mars and it won't make a difference.

can you imagine when we have good European coach ? he will deliver all the ingridients throught out his contract, the ingridients to make a great team, teach our players some skills that we don't even know exist before, the skills that belong to Real Madrid players or Juventus players, including the secret of making a great passing, etc etc it's just unbelievable experience that our players will have, its all positive...

ok i dont think BA is the best coach and i dont think the US has the best players, but the match right now is pretty good. BA does not have that much to work with, but with this team i think he is doing as good of a job as almost anyone could do. "European flavor" may be a bit too advanced for the US right now. Now when the US has better players, BA is goign to have to go!

I don't think you've considered the fact that NT coaches are dealing with players whose games have matured, for the most part. They don't teach skills, they select talent to fit into their system. Sure, Scolari -not a European, BTW  - gave the Selecao the discipline not to attack England after they went up a goal and down a man. I credit him totally for that win, but his job was to get the best players for his system and then let them do what they do. If you're looking for a coach who can increase the individual ballhandling abilities of his players, well, so is everyone else.

Real? Juve? Uh-uh. Their success is due in no small part to deep pockets. I could coach Real to a mid-table finish.

You are giving Europeans too much credit for coaching, when what they deserve is credit for handling their economies/leagues in such a manner that they can buy the best talent. The South American, African and Asian players who are employed by UEFA clubs (the players who are personally responsible for any difference in club talent between UEFA and the rest of the world) didn't become great because some European coach guided them in their formative years. They became great at home, in Brasil, Cameroon, Nigeria, Uruguay, Senegal, Argentina- and then only Europe could afford them.

national team coaches don't teach fundamental skills, and that's what a lot of American players are missing. Hang on, something better is coming in 2006 and something REALLY better is coming in 2010.

I think if our Olympic team players stay healthy, you'll be pleasantly surprised at their performance, and surprised at how much better they look than the senior team does at times.

Off the topic, but how come Troussier's Japan team was so damn boring, and the football didn't even look good! French style football is known for at least looking attractive, and it wasn't even that!
