Croatia won against Montenegro today, tomorrow we play against Bosna i Hercegovina. Bad edition of Bosnia against Finland. I though that Finland was worse team in our group. Macedonia won against Greece. They have issues about their border, so that's why Macedonians got motive. Now we can expect dramatic ending here.
So, Bosnia go and lose 92-64 to Finland yesterday. Very dissapointing, but today was such a different story! We defeated Croatia 92-80! What a nice result for us, leaving this group wide open. I think a win tomorrow puts us throught to the next round. Anyways results from today along with standings: EuroBasket 2011 Group A Team Pld W L PF PA GA Pts. 1. Spain 4 4 0 347 299 1.160 8 2. Very changeable, I don't expect to much against Greece, but we are always motivated against good teams. Greece was favorite of our group.
I'm just hoping we can defeat Macedonia tomorrow. It'd mean so much to the players and fans to move on to the next round.

In other news, Russia defeats Slovenia by a single point and Group D finishes as expected. Greece defeat Croatia and they're knocked out. Meanwhile, Finland progress to the second round while winnning against Montenegro. Great Britain shocks Poland, while Turkey upset Spain. France defeats Serbia in overtime in a battle for first place. Latvia are edged by Germany, but only by one point.
Second Round Group A and B make Group E. Group C and D make Group F. Results from the last round carry over (only games against teams in their group's top three count), and teams don't face a team from their first round group. I can't gve much credit to Macedonia here at all here, without their naturalized player, they'd of been knocked out in the first round.
Henry Domercant disagrees with this statement. Boshko McCalebbovski is a great player, but only in the NBA does one man make a team. Pero Antic is a beast, as is Gecevski, and the Stojanovski brothers are for the future. The key to our performances is ball control and teamwork. Slovenia defeated. Now, we conquer Russia!
Bosnia has Mirza Teletovic, Nihad Deovic, Vasiljevic, and more. We should've had Preldzic, begic, etc. but that's another story. So here's what went on today: Group F 1. Russia 4/0 8 2. F.Y.R. of Macedonia 4/0 8 3. Greece 2/2 6 4. Slovenia 1/3 5 -------------------- 5. Finland 1/3 5 6. Georgia 0/4 4 Georgia 73-87 Finland Macedonia 68-59 Slovenia Greece 67-83 Russia Group E finishes off with their last group day tomorrow. The top four will progress to the quarterfinal of Eurobasket 2011. As for the games today, Finland and Macedonia continue their surprises and Russia wipes out Greece. What a group this is.
So in the final day of Group E: 1. Spain 4/1 9 2. France 4/1 9 3. Lithuania 3/2 8 4. Serbia 2/3 7 ----------------- 5. Germany 1/4 6 6. Turkey 1/4 6 Serbia 86-85 Turkey France 69-96 Spain Lithuania 84-75 Germany
What an amzing tournament this has been, right? We've had the surprising teams Like Macedonia, for example, and the usual powers (ike Spain). I nice balance. 24 teams have been really good too, better than we all expected. It's shown the true quality European basketball has.
I've been pleasantly surprised by Macedonia. How does it work in term of qualification for the Olympics games in London next year? Will every team in the EuroBasket knockout phase qualify?
Unfortunately I think Todor Gecevski is out for the tournament with a hand injury. This will hurt our chances as we will have lost a key player and have less depth. Anyway, just hoping for a respectable scoreline v Russia. The quarterfinals is what we should be prepping for.
In the final day of Group F: Slovenia 67-60 Finland Greece 73-60 Georgia Russia 63-61 Macedonia So the standings finish off like this: Russia 5/0 10 Macedonia 4/1 9 Greece 3/2 8 Slovenia 2/3 7 -------------- Finland 1/4 6 Geogria 0/5 5 The quarterfinals look like this: Spain VERSUS Slovenia ---------------- Maecedonia VERSUS Lithuania France VERSUS Greece ------------- Russia VERSUS Serbia
My picks: Spain VS Slovenia (just want to see Slovenia get far in this and pull up the upset) Maecedonia VS Lithuania (Hard to determine, considering how good Macedonia have been so far) France VS Greece (France always seem to run out of gas soon) Russia VS Serbia (this might be the markee game of this round, Russia are on a roll though, unbeaten so far)
