(This is a spinoff of another thread and I think it should get its own space)

Leave it to European teams to hire and then leave the young foreign players to dry on the bench. Donovan sat on the bench for 2 years, Galivan (Newcastle) also and there are countless others that go to Europe young and other than getting some good $$$ waste their talent on the bench. Talent that would be appreciated at home instead wastes away and ages. This goes for players in South America, US , Asia and Africa that move to Europe mostly to warm the bench.

Lucky are those like Donovan that after a while get to go back home and actually play. If they arent going to use the players why do they bother to gobble them up? Is it more of a "let me get him before our rival does"?

Clubs buy young players with potential, they rarely buy a youngster with the intention of putting him in the first team. If the player is good enough and applies himself well he'll usually get a chance.

OK, so some talent is wasted but nobody is forcing any of the players to move and the financial incentives are good.

I think it is sometimes a case of getting players before your rival does. If a club signs a promising player and they turn out to be a superstar in the future then the club benefits. If they dont then you can always drop them.

All the money is in Europe .The rich clubs can buy any player they want from all around the globe .So what if some players fall by the wayside and dont make it?? These things happen in any sport...
if south american clubs had money they would do the same .Gavilan didnt make it at newcastle because there is alot of competition for places.

    How much?

How much do the young players get while they sit on the bench? Is it that much more than in the U.S.?

What for? So they can be fouled 20 times a game? Not make money and have their careers end early?

Fix things in Brazil first before you encourage players to stay there. As it is everyone has to leave once they reach a certain point in order to develop, or if they're absolutely brilliant, in order to survive.
