Just saw that. A second minute goal by Omri Afek (gee, I wondered what he was doing these days).

Something tells me it won't hold up, though IIRC it was Israel who knocked France out of a place in WC '94.

Spain scored an extra-time goal to win 3-0. They had to work pretty hard for their victory, but they finally wore Armenia down.

I personally think the most stunning result of the day comes from Bosnia-Herz. They went into Denmark and shut them out 2:0! That's amazing! I mean, Denmark doesn't lose that many qualifiers and to lose one to Bosnia-Herz at home is just unreal. Also, Lithuania may actually be a team to look out for too after their 1:0 win over Scotland. France will easily make first in group 1, Holland is lucky to pull away with 3 points in group 3 on a late goal over Moldova, and can Northern Ireland ever score? This is eight straight matches now without a goal! And they've only played Armenia and Greece this week. And group 10 is just wacky, no one knows what will happen in that group, and of course England beating Turkey today really makes that race intersting in group 7.

    Priceless, indeed.

Great win for England today. The return match in Turkey will be a cracker.

No.... they will never score again.... :)

I seriously don't know what is wrong with Northern Ireland. They have some talented players, but it seems that they can never put it together when representing their country.

The funniest thing with Lithuania is that their assistant coach Valdas Ivanauskas, who played very long years in Germany and still lives here, was the one who worried most about Germany last Saturday. He was kind of shocked and almost excused himself for getting a point; in the next sentence he said that now they got to defeat Scotland. Thanks Valdas, you now may return ;)

Great week also for Albania. Defeating Russia and reaching a draw against Ireland is an extremely good start for Coach Briegel, who never had a major job in the business since he retired about fifteen years ago.

    Fair enough.

They played for a point and got what they effing deserved - nothing. (none of that posession ************************, please)

Dodgiest peno I've seen this season, however. Ach well. Just have to beat the Germans now, ;)

The Spain - Armenia score was very flattered, even though Spain picked up the pace in the 2nd half and didn't give the away team a chance to break out, in the 1st half the Armenians were pretty much equal to the Spanish...and actually more dangerous when on the attack as well. Still a nice goal for Joaquin, his 1st for the national team, with a cool chip over the goalie.

The Dutch suffered a lot in their match. Lots of players that performed under their potential, and once again the partnership up front with Kluivert and van Nistelrooij failing like a mofo. The should try to pair one of them with Makaay already, to me Kluivert + Makaay looked much better in the match they started together (Austria?) and I don't they've tried Makaay + van Nistelrooij even once.
