If things don't go his way he turns into a big whiner with a poor attitude. He has talent but I think the mental part of his game is holding him back. If he were left out of some matches maybe that would change things. I personally don't care for him at all.

  2. The Irish didnot attack over that side. They somehow chose to take on de Vrij side, who was in my opinion the best Orange Squad player.
He didnot do much, apart from heading a couple of balls out of the box.
It's quite funny to see him rated a 7, while Schouten was far more active and playing well was given a lower rating.

I completely agree about Blind and certainly the tactics and selections of Koeman.
I get so frustrated because Oranje are capable of much more, and Koeman needs to get things right.
90 minutes of Weghorst is not the way to go.
Koeman gets slight less grief this time because of all the injuries, but still things need to improve.

The ratings are almost always questionable, and the Dutch media is a bit of a mess with the egos of the pundits and writers that completely effect these views and ratings.

So Italy have to draw or win against Ukraine today.
A loss means Ukraine qualify, and Italy go into the Nations L. playoff round

And Kazakhstan can qualify directly if they beat Slovenia today

    • I hope Verbruggen form remains good and he will be #1 choice from now on. Bijlow can be #2 if he does well. For the 3rd spot, it can be 1 of Noppert/Flekken/Olij or a younger goalkeeper (Scherpen).
    • LB: I would prefer to see Hartman and Maatsen. If Malacia can come back from injury he can compete with the other two.
    • CB: Van Dijk, De Ligt, Ake, van de Ven, Botman and Geertruida. Back up: De Vrij, Justin Timber and Hato if others are injured.
    • RB: Dumfries, Frimpong. Backup: Teze.
    • MF: Frenkie De Jong, Reijnders. These 5-6 players can compete for the last 2-3 spots: Gravenberch, Koop. Wieffer, Veerman, Schouten and perhaps De Roon although I'm leaning to phase out De Roon as well.
    • FW: Gakpo, Simons, Lang, Malen, Weghorst, Dallinga, Stengs. Backup: Bergwijn, Memphis, Danjuma.
    • I would phase out Memphis, Berghuis. Bergwijn and Danjuma needs to regain forms first.
    • Brobbey, Wijndal, Rensch, Taylor are not ready. Don't call them until they improves significantly. I think Piroe is better than Brobbey.
    • I would move on from Pasveer, Blind, Berghuis, Klaassen, Wijnaldum, Clasie, Til, Janssen, and even LDJ.
    • The weakest is FW position. Koeman only has Weghorst as CF and maybe Gakpo there hence he keeps using Simons as winger (although I prefer to see him as attacking midfield in 4-3-3) due to lack of true wingers besides Lang. I hope Dallinga can be given a chance to see if he can challenge Weghorst.
    • Koeman needs to move on from some old dead weights in order for younger players getting a chance. This teams does not lack of experiences anwhere in each position.

    Van, Can.
Memphis is not 30 yet and if he regains fitness still has every chance to become Netherlands record goal scorer. He should still be very much a core player for next year especially considering the lack of depth/quality on the forward line. I don’t understand why he’s so disliked on this forum.

I thought about driving over to watch the game, but I strained my thigh muscle diving for a racquetball shot so bad that I can barely make it from my bed to the fridge :(

We got a few B-players, so thats good.
I hope Dallinga sees some minutes as well

    Starting Weghorst is ridiculous.
Teze starts is just a shame as Frimpong misses today because of injury.

Anyone else notice that the Gilbraltar #9 wanted to exchange shirts with Xavi Simons? Simons just blew him off, walking away and he tried a second time with the same result. Why not just exchange shirts????

    Deadtigers and gabrielguilarte repped this.
  14. That's an exageration, but I wonder if he's capable of going passed a player dribbling along the outside. He keeps cutting inside.
It's so predictable for a defense.

He dribbles pretty well playing for Dortmund so it’s probably a case of not being sharp or on form.
I’ll say it again playing Weghorst just slows things down.
We have several other options who can play across the attacking positions & the #10, that bring skill, pace, and ability than WW.
I’m for the False 9 because of this.

Oranje is in pot 3, while Italy is in pot 4. A Group of Death scenario would consist of all previous winners… France, Denmark, Netherlands and Italy - whoa

Memphis was injury prone in the latter of his career. It will take a long time for him to regain his fitness. In the last major tournament you can see the "not fit" Memphis did not help much. Until Memphis can lit up whichever league/club that he plays, he should not be recalled given the extended layoff. He has not played since September. If Atletico buy another striker, Memphis will warming the bench leading to summer of 2024.

Albania actually isn’t that bad of a side! And that would be super cool if Luxembourg actually qualified.

Just watch the match against Gibraltar and the kids look good but I mean I think they would have gotten a better workout from playing Feyernoord.
