It will be pathetic if we can't even get a draw against Croatia. I don't expect the Spain match to be very exciting.

    Euro 2021....

Portugal, Switzerland, Czech Republic finished with 4 points.

Finland, Ukraine, Slovakia finished with 3 points.

No third place team had 5 or more points.

OK so Croatia came back but Albania eventually tied it up.

    https://www.google.com/search?q=cro...rp#sie=m;/g/11l77jp_zp;2;/m/01l10v;dt;fp;1;;;

Modric is way too old to be playing at the international level.

Croatia had spurts of brilliance but are still too old for the Euro.

These tournaments are geared for young men and they have 5 starters over 30, two at 29 and one at 28.

    GK Dominik Livaković (29)

    Josip Juranović (28)

    Josip Šutalo ( 24)

    Joško Gvardiol ( 22)

    Ivan Perišić (aged 35)

    Luka Modrić (aged 38)

    Mateo Kovačić (aged 30)

    Lovro Majer (age 26)

    Marcelo Brozović (aged 31)

    Bruno Petković (aged 29)

    Andrej Kramarić (aged 33)

Ther average age is 29.54 and even leaving out the GK, they are still 29.6 years of age.

Not even most clubs have players this old starting.

    Largo ai giovani already!

Croatia obviously need all 3 points against us but we just need a draw between both Spain and Croatia so it's in our favour. One game at a time. Go for the 3pts against Spain but don't kill ourselves. Spain will feel confident against Albania and they have a tie in them against us.

Unless we play crap defence I don't see them opening us up like they did Croatia and popping in 2 goals early. I can see 1-0 for ether team going into the second half I can see us lose 1-0 2-1 even if we have the draw and sit back too much. Either way that's a good result for us as long as we don't think about it too much.

Come to think of it I believe FIFA also dropped head-to-head in favor of Goal Differential.

Let’s just beat Spain and we won’t have to worry about anything

So, right now we are 4 goals better that Croatia! If we get a draw tomorrow and lose to Croatia with 3 goals margin we are better than them?

finishing 2nd vs 3rd is not really a big advantage only finishing 1st really makes a difference to our route.

Article 20 of UEFA’s Regulations for Euro 2024 explains the tiebreaker criteria used to determine which team would finish ahead should they tie on points with another.

    A. Higher number of points obtained in the matches played among the teams in question;

At first I thought a tie was a good result, and it's not bad per se. But, that tiebreaker formula is interesting. If 2 teams are tied, then head-to-head is the first tie breaker.

That means if we tied Spain but lost to Croatia, Croatia would get the #2 spot (assuming Spain beats or ties Albania). Goal difference wouldn't matter there.

Still, I think 4 points gets you through as a 3rd place qualifier so it really doesn't matter. The important thing is to win or at least draw tomorrow.

Turns out they were right. Although it's quite a gamble to think that they're going through with only two points. I can't see Albania beating Spain.

Potentially all teams can still finish on 4 Points.

Now if Croatia lost today they were guaranteed 4th Place even if they beat Italy 10-0.

Looking at their starters, Portugal with an average age of 32 are way too freaking old as well!

They have seven players over 30.

    GK Rui Patrício (aged 36)

Raphaël Adelino José Guerreiro (age 30)

    Pepe (aged 41)

    Nélson Semedo (aged 30)

    Rúben Dias (aged 27)

William Silva de Carvalho (age 32)

    Bruno Fernandes (aged 29)

    Danilo Pereira (aged 32)

    Bernardo Silva (aged 29)

    Diogo Jota (aged 27)

    Cristiano Ronaldo (aged 39)

Pepe & CR7 are exceptions and freaks of nature but it remains to be seen if they will win it all.

I wanna see another match from Portugal. That Czechia D and GK were horrible. I know they were mistakes borne from Portugal pressure but a half-decent backline and GK have to do better.

Anyhow, good to see CR7 again. Not like I'm tuning into Saudi league match's.
