I really wanted to enjoy this game, but this is torture. Calling it a night. Truly a game where both teams deserve nothing.

Well he is definitely in good company with the squad set up they have at the moment. He will want that trophy to add to his cabinet of many . The final piece.

The types of dives I'm seeing are hilarious.

I like Argentina but they're such babies. Play like little girls.

Look at these fools entering the stadium through the vents.

You just know many of them brought their children along to do this. What a great way to set an example.

Blame CONMEBOL all you want but this is on these criminals.

FIFA needs to learn from these mistakes for 2026.

That’s very dangerous. Some of those vents can be - very - high above the ground and they are not meant to support that weight. If one fails at even 20 feet above the ground you can be ********ed. Some vents run much higher. I take it some were watching Die Hard recently. They don’t even know where those vents lead to.

Argentina have Lautaro as the best sub ever banging in a goal every 2 goals and Dybala who is not even good enough to make the team. We get Retegui in return, joke is on us.

In hindsight Italy was awful against switzerland but they gave spain their biggest challenge? Only conceding the own goal. If they can find a 9 in the upcoming WC qualifying cycle maybe there is hope

Nah Spain should've won 4-0. Italy just had a combination of luck and Donnarumma.

Spain deserved it and are comfortably the best side in the tournament. England were maybe 5th or 6th but scraped to a final. They deserved to go out against Slovakia and that would have been a fitting end to the failure that is Southgate. Now they will hash over but he got to another final, should he stay or go debate for weeks. They are even talking about knighting him lmao. I suppose all and all its a good thing they are thinking about keeping him as it ensures failure. This is where society is today, celebrating failures.

Regards theres nothing he could do. There was plenty he could do.

Morata didnt have his best tournament but he is a good player and he works his ass off. He played a big part last night in winning the how of the game for his team to control. He kept the English defence honest from the first ball. Fighting and winning numerous 50/50s he had no right to win. That is what a 9 does to make himself very important even when the goals are not coming. Contrast his sub to Kanes. The passion he had as he went through his teammates to kane who didnt gaf.

The sub that led to the England goal was without doubt Ollie Watkins. The second he came on, the Spanish defence dropped 20 yards. They knew they had to be honest for the first time in the match. They say Foden and Bellingham cant play together. They def cant play together with Kane who also likes to drop deep. Its a mess because Southgate is ultimately a coward. Nice guy but not ruthless enough to make the big decisions. Kane should have been dropped from the start of the tournament. He was not fit but there is also more reasoning. His game is built on fast wingers around him. The England setup is totally different with that lineup in attacking midfield. Once Watkins comes on, the pitch is opened up. Now the likes of Foden, Bellingham, Palmer have space to operate on. Southgate does not understand how to manipulate space. Watkins may never have the career of Kane but a manager needs to do whats right for the system.

What would England have created from a whole hour of football with this one change alone with fresh legs of the midfielders behind instead of 60-70mins into the game? I would guess 4-5 at least very good chances while the Spanish defence are afraid and constantly kept honest. The whole game dynamic changes from one sub but it should have been the starting team.

Southgate in an interview to talksport afterwards said they have physical issues and they struggled to keep the ball. Mr bean moment here. So your solution to this was in the moments England get the ball, was to repeatedly knock it back to Pickford who would dump the ball up the pitch to Harry Kane who never won a 50/50 all tournament? Time warp into the 70s again?

No issue with some long balls, I know today its almost a cardinal sin in the post Pepe footballing world but there is a difference to using it as an option and having it as a key tactic to a striker who cant compete none the less. Then another subtle excuse was given, extra times fatigued us while Spain had longer rest time. England had the same number of minutes as Spain to go out and win their games, easier games as well but they didnt because Gareth, nice company man that you are, doesnt have "it". In saying all that, knight him and given him a to death do us part contact :D

I disagree that Italy challenged Spain in any way. Italy hung on for dear life. At no point were they threatening anything.

I still don't understand what happened right before he came off. In the first half, he seemed to injure his right ankle planting really hard to cross a ball at the end-line.

The play before he was subbed off it looked like he maybe hurt his hamstring, because he seemed to pull up lame after a fully-extended step with the left(?) leg. But the only visible treatment he received on the bench was on the right ankle. Weird.

He even did it by faking injury just like Penaldo to rub it in his face he could win it both ways.
