Spain didn't even have Pedri the last two matches, and Rodri had to come out at half-time in this one. Despite those losses, Spain's midfield was generally excellent. Spain definitely pushed its luck in the second half letting England get some really good chances. I didn't think much of Cucurella before this tournament, but he was great. That sequence that led to the final goal: Oyarzabal one-times it out to Cucurella, who then puts an absolutely perfectly-timed, perfectly-placed pass back into Oyarzabal in front of goal--that was brilliant. I like watching Spain when they aren't killing Italy, such as the recent group stage match, or that 2012 Euro final. What else can you say about the quality of ball-control, passing, organization? It's great football.
Seems like Spain " is that team " contrary to the prior statement. 7 wins . Few goals conceded. Last I checked every team is the sum of its parts. That's TottiFan you are speaking to incognito for the umpteenth time. A " human pendulum " in action....
What a great day for you. The King of Spain has detoured the flight home and instead going to Calabria so you can make it about you some more.
@PJ234 We'd all like to see no more missed World Cup appearances. Unfortunately too many problems (mentioned already) plague football in Italy. Sorry about the responses you are getting for no good reason. We have some real touchy members here. Just watch, soon they will break away from this board to form their own. Rebels, I tell ya.
I'm not sure how many times people have to see it. English talent is OVERRATED. Badly. They keep thinking their players have skill and touch when they really mostly have athleticism. Even their most "skillful" player had so many bad touches today. Heavy touches all over the place. Shanked crosses. Long balls to nowhere. They had a cake-walk road to the Final or else they wouldn't have even sniffed it. Athleticism certainly still has an importance but you have to have skill to maintain possession under pressure and build to move forward. This was NOT Southgate's fault at all. It is the fault of the English youth system that prioritizes speed and physicality over skill and touch.
There you go. A victory for... yes Calabria. Another call for Southern players on the Italy team -- lacking fire, I believe is how it was described.
We were in a worst state before we went on our 37 game unbeaten streak. People that always count Italy out our wrong
LMAO Copa America Final delayed as fans without tickets have rushed the gate. As happened in the Euro 2021 Final.
By the way we need Argentina to win tonight, Colombia getting way too close to our record. I can't figure out why teams, including Spain, can't beat them.
LOL For a second I thought it was like 2022 rhetoric --> An Argentine victory was one for Italy too. Because a Calabrian moved there in 1864. Spain played good in that Friendly versus Colombia.
As much as you want to believe that, no I literally just want Argentina to win because Colombia is getting too close to our record. I celebrated the Saudi victory for the very same reason.
Also, 6 matches compared to 7. Canada is good now for their historically comically low level but still a 50-something Ranked team. Even if they have some useful players. Played them twice. Chile is at a low level, a far cry from their 2015/2016 level. Which is appropriate because they are using many of the same players. Ecuador, OK team. Even a junk Italy team beat them in March but they are good. Peru, weak as well. Can only beat the teams in front of them so not Arg's fault.
