My gripe with pl is the idea that it's English. Take away foreign money and players and its the Scottish league. Maybe I'm harsh. When serie a ruled every team was majority Italian. Could an English team make cl final if composed of 90 percent English players?? Heck no
We’re definitely on the right side of the bracket. We’ll play England or the Dutch if we happen to beat the Swiss. Could be worse. If only Italy was playing better, I could see us getting to the finals with this bracket.
the fact that an english coach has never won the premier league should tell you what you need to know about how good they are.
Pre PL we had more winners of the European Cup than Italy (United, Liverpool, Villa, Forest) vs (Juve, Milan and Inter)
Managers are overrated in general. They make no difference, wage bill accounts for 92% of the impact on results. So this stat is meaningless.
sorry sir i must be mistaken... i forgot about Ranieri's massive wage bill that helped him win the Premier League!
@ht_hu96 if Managers don't matter... then why are all of you complaining about Southgate? Shouldn't matter if its him... the Easter Bunny or Wanda Nara coaching right?
We’ve won nothing for sixty years, in the bigger picture it can’t always be the manager’s fault. More deep rooted issues such as style of football and lack of technical quality in key areas.
British football is poor they had some bright spots in their history mainly the late 70s but between England Ireland Scotland Wales they are really really poor. Only difference with England is they have a lot more people and good infrastructure otherwise they are Scotland at the micro level.
both Italy and England can go out at the last 16 on penalties maybe I would not be shocked. yet one of the two could even find their way to the final. the group stage does not tell us all that much.
