Just watched half an hour of France v Bulgaria, I'm really concerned if we're going in with kroos Gundo, their midfield is very mobile and physical, unless we have a perfect Game can't see how were going to control their midfield.

Hopefully this line fares better than the Maginot Line, but I do not have high hopes.

Since this will be a match between Germany and France, which one do you guys think was luckier to be part of a World Cup winning squad? Shkodran Mustafi or Bernard Diomede?

So this truly will be a tactical master piece - everything has to come together - it will come down to the smallest details - and a total battle - the only thing that could stop this being the ultimate game of tactics and genius play is that at some point they resign to play a draw as it’s still in the group stages.

So as you can see our defence in one man up - but in midfield we are one man short - except if Hummels pushes up to cover Griezmann. But then gintner is alone against mbappe. So if we one man short in Midfield - will we not be overrun? Allot depends on the WB on both teams how they play and how they position themselves

Anyway this is juts playing around …. But the more i Look at it the more I get confused and the more I realise this will come down to the smallest of differences ….there is no room for error ( hence sane should Not start for now )

Germany will have to " Gib gas" 100%of the Time Play with high intensity- hope the guys are fitter then France . That’s the only thing that could turn the game in our favour - full power /steam ahead !!!

SO I think Against France the deciding factor will be how do our midfields match up ? Basically it will be Kante/Griezamnn vs Gundo/Kroos - if one just looks at that pairing I wonder what the best option would be:

    KANTE/GRIEZMANN
    vs

    1. Gundo - Kroos
    2. Gundo -Kimmich
    3. Gundo- Neuhaus
    4. Gundo- CAN
    5. Kroos- Kimmich
    6. Kroos- Neuhaus
    7. Kroos- CAN
    8. Kimmich - Neuhaus
    9. Kimmich - CAN
    10. Neuhaus - CAN
Kroos was still not 100% ... Neuhaus is good but is it to risky to start him for such a big game? who is the best to take on Griezmann>?

    And future games:
    We still have
    1. Goretska - Kroos
    2. Gorteska - Kimmich
    3. Gorestka - Gundo
    4. Goretska- Neuhaus
    5. Gorestka - CAN

Gundogan has to play as the link with the front 3, he excelled in the city team this Season because of de bryunes injury, so it's a case of is loew going to risk kroos as a base midfield, a few posters pointing to kimmich linking as a cover to midfield in his role as a wing back, but surely mbappe is a issue which kimmich needs to concentrate on

The good news is Kai and Gosens links up well. If there's goal from Germany, it will be from their build up play.

If we must play 5 at the back with Kimmich at rwb then I would play Neuhaus alongside Kroos. And then when Goretzka is fit he can play there. I realise this harms the team offensively as it means leaving out Gundogan but especially against the French Kroos at 6 isn’t going to end well. We need a box to box midfielder alongside him, Neuhaus has the physical attributes to play that role. Gundogan doesn’t.

I agree that if Kimmich tucks inside in a hybrid role there is going to be more space for Mbappe, which isn’t ideal.

You have a point - I guess that Gosens will be the more attacking WB of the two, where as Kimmich will probably have a triple role which is more defensive in nature - even making Germany have a sort of 4 backline at times
    1. Cover Mbappe
    2. Cover Kroos in Midfield
    3. Every now and then push up on the wing.
Gundo will defiantly be the more attacking DM from Kroos and himself. And Hummels might even play a bit of a very deep sitting DM role to cover Griezmann.

As said this will be a tactical game which will come down to small details and who will have the upper hands, we can just hope that Jogi reacts very fast if he sees that we are not ontop of things, by making a few tactical changes if required. I think if Germany get it right on the day it will be a very close game.

Bertie Voigts said: That Kimmich must play as DM as we will be overrun in midfield if not - says both Kroos and Gundo are both more numbers 8 and wont be able to hold back the French in midfield.

I guess the only way is if Kimmich does cover the midfield some how and possibly Hummels pushing a bit higher to cover Kroos as well.

I believe the question between SANE and Havertz is easier - Havertz should start .

So the only real question remains is : How should Kimmich play his RWB position ?

    Havertz definitely over Sane.
Just feel we could be asking to much of kimmich in a hybrid wing back position.
I can understand the thinking because of kroos or Gundos non existent defensive ability. Also we have to be vary Games and tactics like these are prone to cards, last thing we need kimmich or hummels getting booked early.
