We don't know what it means. Judging by the diagram at the bottom of the screen green means oversubscribed. Three people for every two tickets in the diagram. The diagram has red as five people for every two tickets. It is possible that those are the actual minimum thresholds for green and red respectively. If that is the case then yellow would be four applicants for every two tickets. Probably not though. 14 days ago there were reportedly 4.5 million ticket requests from 190 countries. This morning it was up to 204 countries but no announced number for requests. 3 million tickets in total although I'm not sure how many of those are available in this stage. They'll all sell except Baku.
I’m just anxious to see if I won.... and for the record, I’m American and don’t care who I see. Went to Paris in 2016 and saw Austria Iceland. Amazing experience. Trying for Cat 2 to help my chances. Cat 1 too expensive for group games IMO.
If I were to apply for Cat 1 for both semis & final, is it unrealistic to think that I would get all 3?
CAT1 are much too expensive for group matches especially pre-draw! Ticket prices are a little high across the board really. I'd be ecstatic with one or two matches this phase and to see a team I haven't seen before (eg. Ireland, Scotland, Italy, Denmark, Bosnia etc.).
Unrealistic probably yes. Unlikely you will get any. Those games will be heavily oversubscribed in all CATs
I just made my second application! I think they won't check names/addresses/passport #s/credit cards. You can also vary the name, address, and passport number without an issue. CCs they won't check. Need a different email address for sure. What I don't know about is phone number. Does anyone know if you could have multiple applications on the same phone number for say, the Europa League final? Or at prior Euros? Any thoughts on this?
Does anyone know how you change name on an account or even delete an account? Nevermind, I figured it out.
I think this is correct. There is a message you can't change addresses after July 12th. Not clear if this includes the phone number. They wouldn't stand for an extra digit in the phone number on my application either, which they will for a passport #. This means it will be more difficult for people to put in 50 applications unless you have 50 phone numbers.
People often change their phone numbers though - some countries changing provider means a different number. Other times people might live in a different place and therefore have a different phone number. The tournament is a year away. Also for passport numbers, most have a 10 year expiry date which by law of averages means around 10% are due to expire in the next year. Some may become lost or stolen. So I do think some details eg phone numbers and passport numbers will be able to be changed. Address won't be so it's important if you have multiple applications to ensure the other addresses are someone reliable you can have tickets delivered to. I suspect if you move house or if all else fails then it'll be a case of picking the tickets up.
Any news if it will be as easy as the World Cup to buy resale tickets and get in to matches? At the World Cup I bought multiple tickets that had other names printed on them and that were obviously not assigned to me and I had 0 problem getting in.
I'm not sure about that. Glasgow is hosting the same group as London and, if England qualify - which seems very likely - one of their games will be in Glasgow. I'm expecting this will push up demand there. Having said that, my current strategy is to apply for all four Glasgow games.
That's not necessarily true. The tournament regs say: Some people are inferring that hosts will play all three group games at home if the other host doesn't qualify.
The oversubscription in Cat3 will be on a totally different scale to that in Cat1. My friend and I had a 2/2 success rate on Cat1 final tickets last time, I doubt that was a miraculous fluke.
It was a different city so no not a miraculous fluke Well done you last time ( I got 12 CAT 1). That was Paris France. This is London England and the home fans really think they have a chance (I don't) for the first time since 66 of getting to the final of a major tournament. If they do the tickets will be worth a fortune. Everybody that sells tickets and there are 1000s will be looking to get final tickets and semi. I'll stick my kneck out and say you will be very unlikley to get any this time from your 2 applications. But of course I wish you luck.
One thing different about this tournament's application phase is the check-box at the end of the application indicating if you would accept a lower or higher category seat. If I'm not mistaken, before this tournament the check-box was only for accepting a lower category seat (which is nonsense because if you're offering to pay x dollars for a ticket UEFA/FIFA event, UEFA/FIFA is not gonna give you the ticket for x/2 dollars). So now anyone checking that box is essentially applying for tickets one category higher than what they actually selected. I suspect that means it will be tougher to get cat 1 and cat 2 tickets (although difficult to say how much tougher w/o knowing how many people are checking that box).
We do not think we have much of a chance of getting to the final! Where did you get that idea from? Hopes and dreams of glory yes but no expectation. The team isn't as good as either 1990 or 1996. Everyone knows we were lucky to reach the semi final last year. 2004 was a better team too. I'd agree that getting tickets in London will likely be a lot harder than in Paris. Two main reasons. 1) London is much more of a football city than Paris with lots of professional clubs and many times the number of regular attendees. So much higher likely demand. 2) There will be 7 matches in England compared to a whole tournament in France in 2016. Most people in England who want tickets will apply for London. Here is the UEFA announcement at the closure of applications last time: https://www.uefa.com/insideuefa/mediaservices/mediareleases/newsid=2264604.html?redirectFromOrg=true 1.2m requests for the final. Anyone who got a ticket did very well. Although it doesn't show the split by category. 14% of the 11.2m total ticket applications were from England. That is surprisingly high. Over 1.5m. I didn't read that at the time. Note also that it says, "demand from other big footballing nations in Europe was also high, especially over the last few days". Usually a lot of people leave their applications to the last few days. All sorts of reasons for this including trying to second guess demand. It will be interesting to see the demand indicators on the 11th. Can anyone remember how they ended up four years ago? It is hard to imagine a situation where tickets to the final are not worth more than the cover price. Obviously if England was there the value would be astronomic. It would be very high for Germany too. Or the Netherlands.
We don't know how they will work that. Will they do the draw for category 1 and then add any "losers" into the category 2 draw? Followed by cat 2 losers going into cat 3 draw. Thus only moving people up a category if there were insufficient cat 1 or 2 applications (Baku). Or will they do the category 1 draw including those cat 2 applications that ticked the box. If it is the 2nd option there is no point applying category 1. Just apply category 2 and tick the box to get entered into all draws. I expect they will use the first method.
Good point. And I agree, the first method would seem to be the most logical (and fair) one to use. I guess that wouldn't make it any harder to get cat.1 and cat.2 tickets in this phase, although it could mean that there are fewer higher category tickets available after this phase.
Another bullet point to note from the EURO 2016 communication here: https://www.uefa.com/insideuefa/mediaservices/mediareleases/newsid=2264604.html?redirectFromOrg=true Over half the applications last time were for the lowest price category. That low price category was half the price of this time round in the group stages for the majority of cities. €25 was very cheap and must have encouraged more people to apply.
What will be the scenario for unpaid successful applications? Uefa will proceed with the next number in the ballot or do the tickets will be sold in the next phase?
Supposedly offered to other people who had previously requested those matches & categories and were unsuccessful. It's explained on page 13 of the ticketing PDF. There were reports of this happening when they had the same system during the most recent sale for the CL Final Madrid too.
I’m wondering if it will go all the way more than once. So if the second applicant will not pay it will go to the third applicant etc.
UEFA said in their FAQ that unlucky people who've applied in this phase will get a chance to buy leftover and unpaid tickets from this phase before anyone else. I imagine it will be first come first served then.
I emailed UEFA about changing addresses after the deadline in case of moving house. They replied back saying: We advise you to contact us when you will be successful in the lottery. Then, please send us a copy of a valid ID or passport and we will be able to amend your data. After your new address is put in the system, the tickets will be sent to you via post. I also asked them what if passport expires before and we need a new passport number: We would like to inform you, that all the details must be valid. Therefore, we advise you to contact us after receiving a new passport in order to change your passport number in the system. Do with this information as you wish...
