Finally upon us, the Euros are here a year later than originally planned.

Please have a read my preview of the subject group:
    https://footballfutbolcalciosoccer.blogspot.com/2021/06/euro-2020-preview-group-d-croatia-czech.html

Did my game predictors and bracket. England and Croatia advance in 1st and 2nd spot, Czech Republic misses out by not being one of the top 4 3rd placed teams.

Looking forward to discussion on all things Group D here.

    Final Prediction:
    1. England
    2. Croatia
    3. Czech Republic (advances)
    4. Scotland

England has a very promising young team with a great defense and great attack. They are lacking quite a bit in midfield but it shouldn't be too much of a problem in this group. I expect Croatia to take second place, but I do not expect very much from them. Rakitic and Mandzukic are retired, and Modric is really in decline. Their midfield will get outrun by pace, and they won't have enough in attack to convert too many goals. Czech Republic is inexperienced but their new young team is looking strong at times and they should be able to beat Scotland and maybe even take a point against Croatia if they're lucky.

I personally think England wins this group without ever shifting into 3rd gear.

Scotland to the quarters would be a great story - I'd sign on to watch it, especially if you can beat England. Don't think it happens, but would be great to see.

Always have a soft spot for the Scots, remember some of the Tartan Army singing in Germany, Scotland is in the World Cup in 2006 when Trinidad & Tobago had Jason Scotland in our team.

Think he played for St Johnstone? As a Falkirk fan from early days, Russell Latapy is one of very few who could be described as a club legend, keep hoping we'll get him back as manager but our rubbish board and owners keep picking total disasters. Collin Samuel as well of course, and Densil Theobald who was wasted on the Falkirk bench, next thing he was in the World Cup!

MY hand hurts from trying to Rep. Latapy is the greatest. I know Marvin Andrews spent some time at Rangers for a bit there too.

Modric still playing at a high level. Ye he’s lost a step but his passing dribbling and ball retention still world class. Still has plenty of stamina left as well. Croatia though I don’t think will go far in this tournament. Defense not as strong or playing that well. Attack is modest but really missing mandzukic who was a warrior. I think they will get out of the group but not much further then that.

Croatia have not found a suitable replacement for Subasic. I see them losing big to England. Also I see Soucek and Darida outhustling Croatia and keeping the Czechs in with a chance. Even Scotland will fancy their chances, especially after that performance of theirs against Holland. The Czechs and Scots will have real confidence of getting a result against Croatia.

As they should Croatia is not playing all that well. Livakovic is more then a capable replacement then Subasic your wrong there. Croatia still has really good quality in midfield which I think will be enough to get them out of this group. England will win this group most likely but I don’t think there midfield is good enough to win euros.

Agree 100%. Modric can definitely still be good on his day but is definitely slower than before. I think Rakitic is a lot bigger loss than you all are saying though. He was a world class box-to-box midfielder and none of the midfielders you have now really compare. And of course Mandzukic. Mandzukic was seriously an underrated player and honestly world class for me. I know him super well because he used to play for Juventus. I remember one season when we signed Higuain, many fans (myself included) thought Mandzukic might be benched and not play much, but he started and played almost every single key game and was a huge warrior. We used him on the wing that season and he was probably one of our best players. Not to mention, he won the treble with Bayern Munich before we signed him. He always showed up when it mattered most and that is what makes you a world class player.

I honestly never thought very highly of Lovren at all, and always felt he was very inconsistent. I was actually surprised to see Lovren starting and not Corluka. I thought Corluka and Vida would've been the best CB pair up, but I guess Corluka retired. Also it is such a shame what happened to Vrsaljko. I had high hopes in that player, but I think the long term injuries has just ruined his career.

I agree, Croatia will advance, maybe make quarterfinals if they're lucky but probably not anywhere past that.

No way England will win the Euros. The media is so biased towards England and really overhypes the team way too much.

I would hope England get out of the group and then anything can happen. The defence does worry me though. We're capable of scoring lots of goals but also conceding lots of goals.

England will start off slowly with a draw against Croatia but then rack up wins in the following games. Scotland will climb from last to 2nd on the last matchday with a 2-0 victory over Croatia. Czech Republic won't win a game.

As bad as Croatia have been the last three years they'll get a draw today. I'll go with a 0-0 here.

It must be really frustrating to be an England supporter and knowing they have such strength in attack and seeing that lineup this morning. How an out of form Sterling is starting is beyond me; he’s going to spend 65+ minutes falling over in the 18 or missing open goals. Why is Sancho not even on the bench?

Southgate is way too cautious and predictable; I bet I can predict his subs: Rashford for Sterling, Grealish for Foden, Bellingham for Rice, Henderson for Phillips.

Hot start for England, with several goal-scoring opportunities and a post hit.

When England briefly remember they’re better than their opponent they look streets better. When they start to think about what they’re doing they look incompetent.

If I were Kane I'd try and play under Zidane. Closest natural scoring forward who can dominate midfield the way he did. These players are rare. England should implement the 4-3-2-1 like France 98' and let kane run the show from the second striker, midfield position.

Kyle Walker has been awful and Kane has been nonexistent this half.

I have never understood southgates set up. I never have any idea what he is trying to accomplish. He seems to have just decided for each attacking player he will put in a defensive player and told one set to defend and the other to attack.

Personally, I would give Kane the midfiled to step into and send Foden and Mount on runs. I'd never start Sterling as he has no control over his feet.
