Tough draw for Ireland. Belgium, Italy, Sweden, and Ireland. We open against Sweden on June 13th at the Stade de France. I think we will need at least four points in order to advance. Beat the Swedes and then grab a draw against one of the other two sides - that's what O'Neill and Keane will be thinking. It's a tough ask, but because 4 out of the 6 third-placed teams will advance, it's certainly all to play for! And this isn't as difficult a group as Euro 2012.
It's almost like deja vu. We are in the group of death for sure. I think 4 points is possible though. Unfortunately that Sweden match is everything and the rest of the tournament will feel depressing if we don't get the win there.
Its not the greatest level but Adam Rooney is tied top goalscorer in SPL right now. He deserves a look in friendlies before the tournament.
