    Good:
    1. We won the set-piece battle. If that can be a serious goal threat, it'll really help our chances.
    2. Neuer's a beast.
    3. Nice job of battling for 50-50 balls and retaining possession
    4. Kroos did a great job of controlling tempo and switching play.
    5. Bastian's goal was beautiful.
    6. Hector looked solid.
    Bad:
    1. The Kroos-Khedira midfield is still too leaky and unbalanced. Need another midfielder in there or another defender.
    2. We lost the plot for a good ten minutes before the half. Possibly treating Ukraine too casually.
    3. Goetze's movement was good, but his final ball and finish was awful. I can't believe I'm saying this, but Gomez may be a superior option.
    4. Boateng and Mustafi both looked nervy and Boateng struggled a bit with those diagonals he usually nails for Bayern.

Overall, I'm not melting down over this performance. It was solid enough; not even close to our worst performance in a decade or so like @poorvi states. Got the job done.

Yeah right. He's gonna play Gotze up front again. Whenever he does that, Germany has always looked confused going forward. No one knows what to do with the ball, everyone's a goddamn playmaker.

After this entrance into the tournament, The Boss should see a lot more minutes in the upcoming matches. In recent years he provided that balance and made up for the shortcomings of the other midfielders with his incredible understanding of the game, even though that meant he not necessarily played to his strengths at times.

    we need Gomez on top!!!
he scored in his last 2 games out of 3 and it was because of him that Muller scored in the 3rd game. So he was involved in the last 3 out of 3 of the games he played. Could have been 3 goals in 3 games too if the ref didn't rule wrongly that his first goal against England was offside.

Yeah, but I am answering your post. Your comment, "I'm not melting over this..." My answer is, I don't anyone is. Are they saying we played a good game? Yes, because we did - aside from 15 minutes in toward the end of the 1st half.

When someone's calling this performance the worst in over a decade, that's not a melt-down? And look at the sheer number of complaints. If I were just basing my assessment of the match on this thread, excluding the statements of the result, I could've drawn the conclusion that we got blown out.

Löw should simply stop insisting on playing Götze as a striker.

Ahhhh....my mistake. I thought you meant melting over this as in a good way. And yeah, I called Poorvi out too.

What a game. I stood up the whole time couldn't sit. It's off to Lyon tomorrow where I can watch a game without being tense.

It's easy I told them if they don't play better that I would rip their balls off without them even knowing it. Why do you think Löw did a ball check in the second half?

Schweini goal at the end was sweet.

I really hope this is Germany's year. This generation of players deserves a WC-Euro double.
