Why is goetze used as a false 9 anyway .. Would he not be better suited on the wings ??????

Sounds like Löw is going to be very hesitant to change anything until it breaks, just as expected.

 

Götze isn't a winger. His best position is in the middle.

Great question. Clear he is not the right solution. Plus, he does not have the mentality/personality for that position. I also don't think Mueller should be the false 9, much more effective when he has freedom to roam. If we must play with a false 9, I'd like to see how Podoskli would fare with the type of midfielders we have. At least he was a striker before. Also gives us the option to play with 2 strikers, if need be.

 

Kahn has said he thinks Götze doesnt fit in this possession based system at all. Not even in midfield. Like he never seemed to click in Guardiolas possession system. When did we see the best in Götze? In Dortmund's gegenpressing. In midfield but without the emphasis on possession.

 

Any predicted line up by Bild/Kicker?

 

I remember Goetze playing at Dortmund as 10 and or on the wings.. but not as false 9... Thats where he had his best games.....

 

Loew -the question of the striker: For me, Götze was not as bad as the critics made out. I think that he ran a crazy amount and did a lot for the team. Gomez has trained well and is in good form. Both would be ideal candidates for the game against Poland. I think that we will have more possession, Götze can combine well in tight spaces and Gomez is strong when we play down the wings. We will also look at where the opposition are vulnerable. If balls into the box from wide are ideal, then Mario Gomez is the perfect candidate. If the opposition have more problems in the centre, then Götze is very important in the middle as a pivot when the opponents sit on the edge of their box. But the final decision will also come down to my gut feeling.

Yes agreed.... Jogi says one thing, but his team was just blindly crossing the ball into the box, with our shortest guy trying to challenge for the ball.... The way they played against Ukraine and what Jogi says, Gomez should have played.

 

It will be the same lineup with Mustafi in the CB because after all he's the best player in Germany defense in the last match, why change especially Hummels might not 100% fit , maybe a change on RB, hopefully. Kimmich could play just like Lahm in Bayern, move forward to both the middle zone and right wing

 

I dont believe Mustafi was the best player in defense, that was Boateng.
Mustafi nearly scored an own goal, also at one or two chances the Ukrainians had, he was directly involved and lost the header duel against a Ukrainian player .
Hummels offers also more build up play..... but Jogi said he might still give Hummels another game to recover

 

Is first place tiebreaker head to head? In that case a Germany win + either a draw or Ukraine victory in the other match gives us an early group win.

Why insist playing someone who is not comfortable in the role when you have alternatives who are better suited and prefer playing the position?

Götze is not being helped by this, he needs to play in his best position and find his confidence and form again, not be played out of position and be left to be shot at by the media and fans when he struggles there. Poor man management from Löw imo.
