1-1, we will be the much better team, be more positive than we were against France but just unable to nail it. Ibra will be shit.

    Oxlade to keep his place?

if we need a work horse in the team on the right wing we could pick Phil Jones. Easily superior to Milner .

Still can't believe he brought on Henderson last game instead of Jones.

I dont think Hodgson recognises that Jones can be versatile. His energy in midfield would be useful for these tactics that we are putting out .

I guess it's time to move over, didn't see this thread open..:)

Got to mate, or take the plane home. Better chance with them than with Ukrane.
Sweden Engerland are always interesting, just hope it's fun and interesting!

Just a thought though. If by some quirk of fate we do win this, (Sweden) then Woy will be sure to bring the double deckers in for the last match.

I think we should win this. I'd swap Milner for Walcott and make the Swedes worry about him rather than us worry about their left hand side.

I would like to see this too. Some speed going at them could really unnerve them just as Ukraine did.

I think our strategy will look more positive against Sweden. France's ability to retain possession kept us pegged back for long spells. Despite this, I think we looked quite dynamic on the counter attack.

The key is organisation and concentration - something that seems to be Hodgson's hallmark.

I think that if we score, we'll win. If we don't, I can see this being a frustrating goalless draw.

A player I was happy with last game was Glen Johnson. For all my criticisms of him previously, he seemed to make good choices in terms of when to sit back or go forward. I only recall him being caught slightly out of position once and on that occasion, he recovered well.

My concern is that may have been down to the opposition. He was operating relatively conservatively. He needs to maintain that against Sweden and if so, we'll do well. I can see the potential for him to rate this opposition less and be a little less considered. Hopefully he can curb that.

I think for this match, we will see Gerrard creep furthur up in the attcking end... Roy will want to keep Parker in the defensive side of things though... I'd also like to see a Walcott for Milner swap, but unlikely to happen.. Milner didn't even get subbed out in the France match... He seems to be guaranteed 90 minutes every match....

I'd like to see: Bring back the diamond I say for this match..

I wouldn't be surprised to see Oxlade as a sub, Downing or Milner to start there.

Probably the same reason that in the England U-21 squad Jones has been playing in defence while Henderson has been doing well in midfield with nearing 20 U21 caps in that position now.
I think people need to give Henderson a break, he is a young top English talent with a bright future for England.

I think that Ox has cemented his place in the side now, I can't see Downing replacing him, especially seeing as Hodgson said he was very impressed with him.

It's very important that we win this game, a few early goals would be brilliant, and then we can go into the final game under less pressure (I think 5 points will get us out of this group) with Rooney coming back that will also give the squad a huge boost in confidence.

I was interested to hear The Ox say he nearly didn't get taken on by Saints two and a half years ago.

Hodgson said today he knew his team for this game already, so would expect that to mean unchanged from France unless someone picks up an injury pre-game.

I would love to see us get a good win tomorrow. A lot of Swedish media and ex players giving a lot of stick to us.. let's shut them up.

Welbeck, in my opinion is not good enough for England - I don't understand the hype on his performance against the French either!

There was also an article the other day which I can't find, with one of their players commenting about Sweden being at the same level as England and just general smack talk

In all the times we have played Sweden I can only remember them outplaying us once! In Euro 92 when we were managed by Graham Taylor. Most of the games were them fluking a draw with a late goal or something. Big talk from the ex players .

Reports coming through that Oxlade-Chamberlain will be replaced by Carroll. Stan Collymore has got the team right before so looks like it's true.

Yeah Guardian saying the same thing based on observing training - looking to get it wide and cross it, with Gerrard also pushed forward in a midfield diamond. Sweden have leaked a lot of goals in the air recently, Barry's winner in the friendly was a header in the box and the two goals by Shevchenko were both headers, so must be Woy's thinking.
