You can probably watch it live on uefa.com

I'd be a bit surprised if it were shown on TV.

Don't worry, ESPN will show the draw (ESPNews)...They will treat the Euros like a mini-World Cup event. You will start seeing more spots as we get closer to the event...

Because ESPN's fantastic coverage of Euro 2008 was largely seen as the forerunner to it's equally well done World Cup coverage. It showed them that the soccer-expert forumula (knowledgeable announcers/analysts, non-dummed down coverage) could be a ratings success, and there's no reason to think they wouldn't do that again.

Coverage of the tournament - yes. but they never covered the draw for Euro 2008 IIRC.

They actually did show the draw for Euro 2008. It was a stand-alone broadcast, not part of ESPNews as they are planning this time.

    HA!

I was thinking the same thing. In case any of you are trying to convert one of your soccer novice buddy to the sport, I'd not mention the opening game of the tournament to them. Pretend like it doesn't exist. Have them start off on saturday.

    off the purple line
It's ridiculous that Platini, who I think has done some great things with UEFA, is expanding this tournament. Four groups with top nations makes for an exciting tournament where every game is meaningful. Expanding the tournament in 2016 is going to dilute the tournament and it's going to make qualifying, which many people already find to be of minimal interest, less exciting.
