I mentioned this somewhere else: Metzelder and Mertesacker have 1 goal combined (probably against Andorra) in 92 caps. I don't know about Mertesacker, but from what we've seen of Metzelder it is clear he can't direct a header. Yet in set pieces Carvalho and Pepe were assigned to Metzelder and Mertesacker... while Ferreira was on Ballack and CR on Klose, who are very obviously better head scorers than anyone else on the field.

Obsession with size, methinks. Maybe that's why he gets people to call him "Big Phil."

Been wondering the same thing. Everytime i see the "KM's ran" stat i wonder how they figure it out.

Awesome, thanks laudrup. I thought it might be camera/computer based, but I can't even comprehend how they do things like tell the difference between players? Fascinating stuff.
