I dont suppose this thread is relevant to this board, but nevermind about that now!

Umm on what USA telly channels are the Euro 2004 matches on? Im in the USA from the 19/6/04 - 12/7/04 obviously i want to catch the England matches while im away.

Has the kick off times and relevant stations been designated yet for a US audience? is there any interest?

The favourites to win are probably France.

The England v France game is a huge rivalry game, I don't think the English will bare the thought of us losing to France in the opening game.

But I hope we both progress and meet each other again in the final.

This is one thing that I don't get, why is it that there are a substantial number of Arsenal fans in the US who also support Ajax and Holland. Is it because of Dennis? In which case why not Monaco and France etc? Just wondering !!

Well I'm not really an Ajax or Holland supporter but I will speculate for you. As for Ajax it probably is a combination of the fact that Bergkamp used to play there and that John O'Brien, the oft injured but rather talented American, plays there now. As for Holland, again I would suppose that most U.S. Arsenal fans like them because of Dennis. The other reason, however, is that they usually play really attractive football. I don't really support Holland since Dennis no longer plays for the national team but I admit to enjoying watching their matches just to see all the talent and stylish play.

Geez, at this rate Igor Stepanov's got to be thinking he's in with a chance of having an Arsenal fan support him in the summer!!

Holland was the one team I remember from my youth. There wasn't any TV coverage in the states, before NASL, expect for a World Cup final so I can't pinpoint exactly why Holland (although their style of play was amazing and to this day I wish I could have seen more of Cruyf and van Basten) but through the Dutch I found Dennis and followed him to his club team Arsenal.

Although I do like France, Holland is my top national team. Outside of the US of course.

Along with what others have mentioned about Bergkamp and old World Cup telecasts, I have to throw in the "Cubs/Red Sox" aspect of cheering for Holland. No matter the situation, no matter the player, at some point they will do something that will baffle you as to how it happened and lose. The fact that they have some of the most talented players in the world makes their imminent implosion that much more suspenseful. You just wait around for the disaster to happen, as it most certainly will.

Who can explain a country that produces something as fantastic as Bergkamp's goal against Argentina in '98, and then has a horror show in the semi's of EURO 2000 because they can't convert penalty kicks???
