Why do we care you ask? Well, it has come to my attention that if Latvia, Wales, and Norway qualify, then we move up in the seeding list. We will then be in pot 3 rather than pot 4, and that would increase our chances for a favorable draw.

So far things are looking good:

    FT: Latvia - Turkey 1:0
    FT: Russia - Wales 0:0

    Still to be played:

    Spain - Norway

    GO NORWAY!

I hope that happens. The first leg results have been shocking thus far.

After the 2-1 victory by Spain, things are looking very good for Norway. Snow and very cold temperatures are expected for tomorrow's return leg. Now that's what I call home advantage...

Well Latvia did their part (2:2), but Norway came up short and lost 3-0. Wales is also behind at halftime...

    4th pot here we come.

How Russia is in pot 3 and Switzerland is not jut amazes me. I don't get it. Do they use FIFA rankings to determine who is in which pot?

No, they use the results of this qualifying as well as the WC2002 qualifying. And well...our 2002 campaign sucked...

    Pot A
    Portugal (hosts)
    France (holder)
    Sweden
    Czech Rep.

    Pot B
    England
    Italy
    Spain
    Germany

    Pot C
    Netherlands
    Croatia
    Denmark
    Russia

    Pot D
    Bulgaria
    Switzerland
    Greece
    Latvia

I'm hoping for Sweden, Germany, and Croatia.
