Portugal Have Cheated There Way To The Final Who Paid The Ref Against England And Greece Have Bored There Way To The Final
And Why Should Footballing Giants Like England, germany, italy Be Deprived A Place In The Final When 2 Countries Who Didnt Give A ******** About Football A Month Ago Be In The Final, Something Needs To Be Done Before 2006 Incase 2 Minnows Get To That Final As Well

They won their games and qualified out of the group stages. Germany, Italy, Spain didn't. I am quaite sure people in Portugal like football considering they have some historic teams (Porto, Benfica, Sporting) that always draw well. England fans may chose to poney up thousands of dollars to travel around the world but that doesn't mean they should automaticly be in the final of every tournament. It might be a joke that these teams made it but they did, deal with it.

Yes. Unless Germany, Brazil, Argentina, Italy, Uruguay (are they still okay?), France (is Rugby more popular?) or England are in the Final an international tournament is pointless.

Don't all those countries with no tradition who fill out the tournaments brackets know their place in the world order?

Better yet, all tournaments should be Mundialitos.

Just because certain countries, like Germany, England, Italy, etc are supposed to be "footballing giants" doesnt mean that they should automatically make it; thats why they play the actual game, or else it would just be the same teams competeing for everything. You have to give others a chance to because footballing giants because those already listed were given the chance to become giants, even though they havent lived up to it. And football is a national craze in Portugal all year around, I dunno about Greece but Im pretty sure that it is there too so I dont know where you are getting your facts from but they are false. (Just to prove my point, Portugal made it to the semi-finals of the Euro in 1984, and more recently 2000...they also made it to the semis in World Cup 66 and won third place..thanks!!!) Your are just a hater because two teams who deserve to be in the final are there and teams like Germany cant even make it out of the group...what a loser!

Portugal Aint A Footballing Country, When Euro 96 Was Held Here In England, Portugal Brought Hardly Any Fans With Them

When Portugal Played England In Portugal Last Week, There Were More Fans In The Stadium Supporting England

Portugal And Greece Are Not Big Footballing Nations Like England, Germany, italy Etc. We Actually Travel The World To Support Our Team Unlike Portugal Who Only Go To Watch When It Is In There Home Country

England Deserve To Be In The Final, Portugal Cheated There Way To The Final And Paid The Ref Against England

Its The Worst Final In International Football History, What A Joke Euro 2004 Has Been

I am sorry..I didnt know that to be a "footballing country" you need to have the whole country follow you where ever you go...Thats news to me because I thought that being a footballing country meant that you have tradition and great players and have participated in many competitions. England needs to get over the fact that they lost...Portugal did not cheat...GET OVER IT!! With players like Beckham who miss penalties (actually 2 in one tournament) England deserves to be at home!

This guy is possibly the most embarassing excuse for an England fan I've seen posting here.

The odds are, despite all his claims about the great support of England fans, he's the type of bandwagon jumper who becomes a 'massive' fan when the tournaments come around and barely feigns interest for the rest of the time. You see them in the pub, trying that little bit too hard to show how much it means to them, shouting out encourangement at inappropriate moments, and getting upset like a child when England lose because they haven't learned to deal with it yet.

Or he could just be a troll.

Talking about jokes... Who hired this clown?
Obviously you don´t know nothing about football, the major sport in Portugal is football, played in this country since the end of the 19 century, i am not going to mention all titles conquered by Portuguese teams, because most of the "normal" people know them...
The travelling support isn´t very strong just because we aren´t a rich nation, probably you are American, and i know that the Americans tend to think that Europeans live in an equal economic standard, similar to what happens in the states of USA, but thats not true, the average income of an englishmen its 2 or 3 times higher than a Portuguese or a Greek, so no matter if we want or not to travell to support our teams, simply its to expensive for most of the Portuguese.

Don't forget, my friend, as much as I hate to admit it, but Porto also won the UEFA Cup Championship over my beloved Celtic. So that's 2 years-in-row for European hardware for a historic club from a 'minnow country' like our moron friend puts it. LOL!!!

Let me guess, the thread starter was one of those calling the 2002 World Cup a joke citing Portugal's early exit (among others), and is now complaining because Portugal's in the final.

I will say the same thing that I said after the 2002 World Cup: the game is played on grass, not paper. If they played on paper, Spain and the Netherlands would at least be in the semifinals of every European Championship and every World Cup.

Actually, if anything, this year's Euro tournament suggests that the last World Cup was not a fluke. Once may be bad luck, but if Italy and France crash out of two consecutive major tournaments in early rounds against "inferior" opposition... maybe they really are overrated.

I'm glad this thread popped back up. I was away for the weekend and couldn't log on to bigsoccer. I almost missed this gem.

While it may not be the dumbest thread of the year (we're barely halfway there yet), it's pretty much the worst one to emerge from this particular tournament, and that's no small accomplishment. The team of surgeons who lobotomized the3lions should be proud of their work.
