My friend...my forecast low for this evening outside my front door is 20 degrees below zero Fahrenheit...

We'd sacrifice virgin cattle to get to 77 degrees F...

Truth to tell, we'd probably do it to get to 25 degrees F...

Glad to see that there are other compatriots of mine to write in this forum! :)

Some of you guys wondered what Cuper wants form his side midfielders.

During the 2 months of Cuper's coaching, I haven't seen our side midfielders so far playing strictly as wingers. He wants them to create throughout the entire field and yes, he likes to see them closing down the centre and switch positions with the other players in order to confuse the opponents' defence.

Before Cuper, Mazinho wanted the 2 wingers to play right onto the sideline and target the head of bigman Abreu. However, wingers Calvo/Javito do not possess accurate crosses and rarely fed Abreu with correct balls.

Now, with Cuper, we have seen both of them playing close to the MCs (ex-Birmingham Tunisian international Mehdi Nafti and Argentinian with Italian passport Dario Fernandez) and try to move into channels and open spaces.

Your description of how Adu is keen on playing makes me feel that he qualifies for the job that Cuper has chosen him for. However, he won't have good time if he decides to disobey Cuper and not defend. Our coach is very strict when it comes to defence and demands constant pressure all over the pitch. I hope the fame and the personality of Cuper are enough to motivate Adu and make him play as dictated.

Nearly every American will give their every effort on the field, and Adu is no excpetion. Its just a cultural thing, and players like Eddie Johnson exemplify it. Eddie will work his tail off. First to arrive at practice and the last to leave kind of guy.

Adu will give his heart and soul while he is on the field, its just what he does off of it that worries me. Nothing is confirmed, and apparantly he never met the new Beleneses coach, he was just informed he wasn't needed.

Its all a matter of his physical strength, because he doesn't have much. He will always give 110% on the pitch.

Really? I don't think of Adu at all as the type of player that gives 110% on the field, especially when it comes to pressuring the ball. I think Eddie has matured lots in this regard though and I think he will put in the effort.

I too questioned it when I watched the Gold Cup, but he had almost no fitness and was gassed.

His troubles are off the field, and they affect his performance on the field.

Still don't see how he could possibly get a WP to play for Hull.

My most sincere feedback would be to ignore 80% of the responses you get in this thread and trust your own eyes. Like you, none of us (even those who post as if they have), have seen Adu play very much in the last 2.5 years. Much of the commentary you will read in this thread is from his serial detractors who would criticize Adu for not being able to swim if he walked on water. I would advise viewing videos of his games with AS Monaco to get the most recent idea of where his game currently stands. I can't imagine he has improved very much during his short term in Bele.

Like all players he has strengths and weaknesses, you will find the latter emphasized by many here who are still mad at him for doing a sprite commercial with Pele 6 years ago. :)

Edit: I've seen too many "Adu to (x) EPL Club" to put much stock into this new one. I could very well be wrong but think the Aris deal seems much more realistic. In the spirit of full disclosure, ignore me too. I'm at the oppsite end of the spectrum, an Adu optimist. I believe he has a unique talent set that will one day make some manager look very smart for giving him extended playing time. I beleive these current trials are just part of the process of being a 18-20 year old Yank trying to make it in Europe and not proof of failure or some fatal deficiency.

Adu has to ask twitter how to get a wp for England? Is his agent that clueless?

Yeah, I misinterpreted the post. EJ would certainly excel at getting on the end of through balls. He would also excel in situations in which he had a lot of support. Just don't try to run an attack through him or use him as a target.

In one Belenese match I saw, Freddy looked surprisingly fast and energetic.

This is very much the modern method; few teams use old-style wide midfielders anymore. Again in the Belenese game I saw Adu looked good as a defender. The truth though is Adu has not played many minutes recently. So we will see.

I think they are silver in front and black on the sides so in the top pick you see the side of his right boot and it looks black and the front of his left boot and it looks silver but in the next pic you see the front of right boot and it looks silver and the side of his left and it looks black.

Good to hear! Adu is exactly it sounds like the type of player cuper will like. Hopefully he learns to defend well under him, and performs at the highest level in greece!

I am excited both for him, and Eddie Johnson! A fresh start in a fresh league, both filling roles the team needs in a side midfielder and a central forward!

Edit: I hope adu ends up going to you guys!

No, those are the Black/ yellow Superflies. The black part of the boots is glossy towards the bottom and has a matte finish towards the top. The new Yellow superflies would look great with that kit though.

He did. I saw it and asked the same thing. Who is his agent anyway? He has to be pretty stupid not to know the requirements for England and tell his client.
