This is in no way an endorsement of trickery, but I've heard that there are ways to get around paying the full price for Eurail/Europass tickets. Anyone with any experience with such (something to do with eraseable pens) please respond. I'm looking for people who have traveled recently (within the past 2-to-3 yrs.).
yea, you can write the date in pencil on the pass, but some conductors <hardly ever though> will make you use a pen and will ask you to re-write it if you had done it in a pencil. by the way, this doesn't get you around paying the full price <adult, student, etc> for the pass, it just means you can use the pass a few extra days instead of the days you purchase it for.
this doesn't always work. sometimes, the conductor stamps the date over your handwriting, so it can't be changed.
