Since 51% of Americans are right wing neo-cons that worship the bible. I'd thought I'd ask the question here.

Since the EU already has a bigger economy and larger market than the USA. I typed in "EU and superpower" to see what English language links I would get at google. I got some interesting results. But one was the linking the EU to amageadon and the bible. (Obviously this was an American website)

Aparently the bible prophecies the "return of the Roman Empire". Obviously the Roman Empire was the last time Europe was united before the the European Union. The bible prophecies than the this Empire will be the biggest power ever seen. And it's leader will be the antichrist. (Most probably Chirac) and the EU are not mentioning god in it's new constitution.

Whoever was the man who wrote the bible wearing sandles and rags was obviously before his time. Shame he thought the world was flat. He could have been onto something.

Well, where exactly does it say this in the bible? Since I haven't got a copy. I have sense and what do you think of it, my American bible worshipper friends?

All the end-of-days predictions come from the book of revelations, or as some call it, the book of freaky stuff I saw after fasting in the desert and staring at the sun for way too long, without a hat I might add, and then drank some 3rd hand urine from a group of travelling merchants who were on shrooms.

Don't believe everything you read on the internet. Check the Bible for yourself.

By the way, the verb is "prophesies." "prophecies" is a noun, referring to the utterances of a prophet. "To prophesy" is to make those utterance.

    Yes. Obviously.

Or maybe the anti-Christ will come from the place that has the words "In God We Trust" on it's currency, and behaves as if said currency itself is its true God... by your treasures you shall be known and all that.

If you have to ask, you'll never know. Read it yourself.

well, he couldn't have been in the desert since it was written on the Island of Patmos (I believe), in the Meditterenean (someone correct me if I'm wrong).

i suspect the man (one of the Johns, was it?) was drinking heavily every night a lot of wine on the beach around 3am, enjoying his spirits with his Good Lord and the stars and the Mediterrenean, and letting his tongue take on the fire...

But seriously, this European Union, when they decide to get a real army, will be real dangerous.

    Stereotype much?

And I'd tell you, as others have, to read the bible first, but "like most Dutch" you're probably too busy smoking dope, wearing clogs and smelling bad to do so.

bloon, why are you wasting your time on this ridiculous thread? 90% of the people here are liberals who share beliefs similar to yours. Take it to rivalries, opie.

Why do people assume that if you criticize Christianity and its mindless herd of followers, you surely must not have read the Bible. Not only did I read it, but when most American Christians' ancestors were flinging crap at each other from trees of Northern Europe, mine were writing the first half of the damn book.

Not to get too nitpicky, but what about Charlemagne?

I mean, yeah, he called himself the leader fo the holy roman empire, but basically he was one of the pseudo-barbarians from up north (frank = french?)

Of course, he didn't control all of the roman empire, but he did hold at least Germany, France, parts of italy, all those dinky little countries, and a lot of spain, which is ~90% by land mass. So it was pretty united - but in no way would I really call it the ROMAN empire, regardless of his title.

    Whatever.

The thread starter asked American "bible thumpers" to interpret the Bible for him because he didn't have one and apparently couldn't be bothered to get one. That's why people are telling him to read it for himself.

No, there's quite a bit of prophecy in the books of Daniel and Ezekiel in the Old Testament. Some in 1 Corinthians. Even Jesus himself in Matthew 24 talks about it.

Europe was never entirelly united and never will. Now if by Europe you mean a considerable part of it, last time Europe was united was during the nazi times (Hitler, Mussolini, Franco...)
