Terrible news :( The Ronaldinho-Eto'o-Messi connection was an essential part of what brought us the Double two years ago...ever since, they haven't had the chance to play together for an extended period!

Wasn't there a news story that Bojan was staying with Barca B? What's up with that?

He will be interchangeable. Meaning he trains with Barca senior, plays for B but is available for the senior squad when needed.

Well, I'd been against the signing of Henry before it happened.
    More meaningful now, eh.

    Yeah, awful news. :(
At least we do have proper re-enforcements this season and should be ok for the next while. I still hope he has a speedy recovery, Eto'o is an integral part of the squad and he'll be missed.

    Bonne chance mon ami!

    Friendlies must die.

Ok, I guess it could happen in a match too, but.
I feel so bad for him, it took him so long to get back to form last year after such an incredible season. I can't even imagine how it must feel. (although Puerta's death puts it into perspective).

Well, I guess FR's choices will be easier.

This may be a blessing and a curse.

Picture this: Henry takes over the striker position and absolutely goes nuts on scoring goals. (he's thierry henry after all)

it's mid-october/november and Barca's on top of the world in first place.

what happens when Mr. Eto'o comes back? He's going to want to play (and start) right away.

What is Frank Rijkaard to do?

I sure hope the "we're best friends, we all like each other" line everyone's been saying is actually true. it could get interesting upon his return.

This is kind of ************. We needed Eto'o to start the season with Henry coming off the bench and then starting when Eto'o was off at the African Nations Cup.

Now he'll be healthy just in time to go play for Camerooon.

yeah these are my thoughts too. 2 months takes us into November, and Eto'o didn't exactly make the speediest return to health and full fitness last year, so I'm guessing 2 months is the conservative estimate. which takes us more into Nov-Dec territory.

ah well, I too was against Henry coming, but boy am I glad he's here now. haven't been all that impressed with Henry so far, but now he has a chance to change all that. and as has already been mentioned, this gives a great opportunity for Gio to do his thing too

You have to wonder about the psychological factor once he returns. Will he be as aggressive as before knowing he's had two serious injuries in less than two years? There is plenty of depth on this team to sustain them through this. However, Etoo's passion on the field will be missed.

Surgery for Eto'o as further tests discovered that the tendon tear is complete, not partial as had been first diagnosed.
    Surgery to be Saturday morning.

Does this extend his time off?

As of now it looks like two months is still the length of time he'll be out.
The surgeon, Dr. Ramon Cugat, and Barca club doctor Ricard Pruna are to hold a press briefing after the 11am operation to inform how the procedure went so we'll likely get an updated time-table then.

One-hour surgery was successful, but Dr. Cugat said we won't likely see Eto'o in a game for three months; two to recover before he can step onto the training ground. Will likely return in December.

This is so painful. Is it the same leg that was injured last season?

I can't help but think that if one of our stars had to get injured, I'm glad it was Eto'o. Let's face it: he never really recovered from his injury last year, and seemed completely out-of-sorts in many matches towards the end of the season. Mediocre pre-season as well.

Is Gudjohnssen still injured? He can take Eto's spot.
