Basically Forest need the W no excuses, they gotta go in for the W upon opening kickoff in the enemy’s house
Judging by schedule, we can see tallies of 4, 5, 6,7 & 9 achievable by Forest 3,4,5, 6 & 7 respectively for Bournemouth just based on quality of of opponent regardless of home/away. generally when the 3rd, 7th, and 8th placed teams come knocking, 9 points isn’t going to happen. Bournemouth going back to the first game in March goes like this t-t-w-t-t-L-w-w-t-w-t-L Not in the best of, not in the worst of form Forest looks like this since the beginning of March t-w-w-w-(L)-w-w-w-L-w-w-w (Parentheses was Liverpool so, honestly, toss out that loss because that's to be expected) As far as form goes, Forest are the much better side at the moment. That said, they have no room for slip ups and absolutely must win against B'mouth. To me this feels like a coin flip as recent results suggest Forest will be ahead on goal difference if form stays consistent. All this said, sucks Ethan got shifted to the bench due to international duty. Perhaps he gets a chance to fight for the number 1 if they get promoted. I've only seen about 5 of their matches this year so i can't exactly assess the GK situation between the two of them. But, if they get direct promotion, can't exactly question the manager on the decisions he's made at that position.
With the benefit of hindsight, Horvath lost a lot by sitting on the bench for two weeks with the Nats. I wonder if GGG and co debated bringing him given this was a possibility; maybe it's a given he's leaving this summer?
Steffen was hurt and was very much a question mark. There was a real possibility he was going to be needed in the window.
One of the best GKs in the league: 🆕📈Nottingham Forest have two of the best goalkeepers in the leagueIt's worth noting the small sample size of some goalkeepers here. I've kept it at a minimum of 500mins look at #nffc's Horvath. pic.twitter.com/HtdNTe98Zo— Liam Henshaw (@HenshawAnalysis) April 29, 2022
Forest won by 3, but so did Bournemouth on the road to keep pace. Now, in all likelihood, Forest need to win next game at Bournemouth to seize that auto promotion spot. It's a massive match. Too bad Forest got off to such a poor start on the season, to potentially get drawn in to the playoff. Since then they've been as good as anybody.
And so it should be. A successful move to a Championship side will give him a platform to - finally - show what he's capable of. If he's genuinely good, a move to a regular promotion challenger or a lower EPL side will follow in 2-3 seasons. MLS will still be there then.
And then the more pessimistic view, where two transfers from now we’re still like “the next team will be the one for Horvath!”
I could see two transfers from now and we’re still like “the next team will be the one for Horvath!” Hopefully not, but seems like we’ve been waiting forever.
It's still crazy to me that Gregg had Steffen start all three matches. Surely, Horvath could have played against Costa Rica since it wasn't so dire and he had gotten way more recent PT than Steffen.
He was trying to make Steffen the guy but Steffen bungled it. All that bench living has not been good for Steffen's form.
Maybe that reality will kill the “training against the best in the world crowd” - players need to play to improve or even maintain.
And the big day has arrived at last, Bournemouth v Nottingham Forest - Forest needing to win and a draw obviously favoring host Bournemouth - at 2:00 PM (eastern). Samba in goal ...
Samba beaten by a training ground set piece play, and Bournemouth go up 1-0 and potentially clinch promotion at Forest's expense.
