Palmeiras management and Felipão are such cry babies. They make the team small by bitching about correct decisions. 2nd time now they are arguing against images on video that contradict them. Good game ... best I've seen in a while specially in the 1st half even if the game ended goalless. São Paulo look much better with that young midfield.
It's the first time in a while that I actually have a realistic hope that São Paulo will win the state tournament.
Flu by default too, I was going to get on here to make an argument for Botafogo especially if their back 4 plays better but Flu getting Pedro back takes it over the top. I still haven't seen any progress with Flu and idk if diniz's tactics will survive in the brasileirao.
@celito is so fed up with Palmeiras' striker situation that he's considering this as a potential upgrade......
when brazilian teams sign colombian strikers. If he knocked in a few for atletico nacional and had a colombian name he'd be signed immediately. .
Var is actually making things worse in brazil. So many examples this year but yesterday's fla- flu was a perfect example. I'm still not sure how flamengo didn't win it by 2 or 3 goals.
Athletico Paranaense must deliver in Copa Libertadores to confirm 'big club' status If Tim thinks CAP is a big club he is delusional. I know he loves that they play reserves during the states and that they are "organized" but I never understood them being included in the g 12. Do they even have fans in other states? What craque have they had in the last 10 years??? Could they even pull of signing a craque like Diego Souza like Botafogo and Sport both did?
The interior Sp teams/ scene is pretty much finished. Mogi and Portuguesa pretty much folding, I don't think Mogi is even professional now. Ponte Preta losing not once but two times to a serie d team while getting played of the pitch the 2nd match. Guarani is ran like a nordeste team in terms of debts. Sao Bento going the whole ********ing paulista without a win in a year they will be in the serie b. Oeste's stadium drama/ lack of fans . Then Bragatino's place being bought in the Serie B by RB Brasil.
To be fair he didn't originate the idea. Having said that, CAP , since 2003 (pontos corridos), have performed better than at least Vasco and Botafogo. Their structure is also very good. As you know club performances in Brazil go in cycles. Much of it has depended on management and/or sponsorship. At least since the 90s. CAP has good management at the moment. Vasco, Botafogo really do need to find a plan or else they will be left even more behind. They've been a mess for a while. Tradition wise it'd take a while for CAP to assume a real post in the G12. But performance and structure wise they have already been better than those 2 teams for a while now. Having fans outside the state is a bit irrelevant since the RS and MG teams don't have that many fans outside of their states AFAIK.
O novo argumento moda dos jornalistas e analistas de futebol ... o time está muito preso ao sistema de jogo.
no idea why sampiaoli doesn't swap wing s with soteldo and rodrygo soteldo 1 v 1 all day with fagner with little cover yet rodrygo is forced to get the ball deep cause their is so much marking on his side. frustrating.
@Emperor Adriano In addition to that, because of the historical dominance of teams from the eixo (axis) RJ-SP, it's hard for teams from outside there to "break into" the mentality of what a big team is in the public's perception. The BH and PA teams made it eventually because of their successes, but it must be noted that Internacional first won the Copa Libertadores in 2006 and Atl.-MG in 2013. They were nonetheless seen as "big" teams before that; ditto for Corinthians, who endured mockery by rival teams over its Libertadores virginity until 2012. Fluminense and Botafogo have never won the Libertadores, but no one questions their historical importance. As for Athletico Paranaense, they do seem to have a good chance this year, but the competition is tough as always; in fact, it seems to have gotten particularly difficult in recent tournament editions. Palmeiras and Grêmio have expensive rosters and while they’ve somewhat underperformed in some of their Libertadores matches, they still have the firepower to threaten come the knockout round. Cruzeiro is also extremely strong. As for the other countries’ teams, River Plate, Peñarol, Cerro Porteño, Olimpia, and Boca Juniors are all teams to contend with, whether by virtue of tradition or actual current form. The Libertadores is phenomenally difficult to win, and while I’m biased, I do believe that controversial refereeing also does at least at times pose obstacles. And if winning it is hard, it's harder to repeat: since 1991, of all the first-time Copa Libertadores winners, only twice did a team return to the final the following year: SPFC in 1991-1992 and Palmeiras in 1999-2000. And only Internacional won again in this time period, but only in 2010, after its 2006 initial Copa win. If Athletico Paranaense wins it this year, it'll be a "big team" for sure. And if it wins again either in 2020 or in the next few years, its reputation will be solidified even further.
Am I crazy for starting to think that Rogerio is a legit manager??? I watched the game last night and his team was outstanding. I think that was the 1st time using 4-4-2 all year and he completely woodshedded whoever is/was vitoria's manager. Vitoria is a mess no doubt , but that was a pretty good starting 11 for vitoria that he tore up.
