It is my understanding that the local authorities want the first game in the new and improved JRL Stadium to be PR vs Spain. That will be quite an inaguration. Although the stadium is alledgedly ready, the Islanders will play one more game at the Bayamon Soccer Complex. On August 18, they will Ft. Lauderdale in JRL provided there is any grass left from the Spanish buring up the field.
That's how I originally understood it, that, even though the place would be done (and I've never known a stadium to either be completely built or completely renovated 17 days out from when it needed to be), they wouldn't let the Islanders play there until after the Spain friendly. But then someone else said that wasn't the case, so I don't know. They'd have exactly four home dates remaining from 8/18 onward.
When I was in San Juan earlier this month, they said tickets were still available for the Spain v PR game. The prices were very expensive. If I remember, the cost was something like $350 for the remaining cheap seats. I told my friends I'd pay the $10 to $20 entrance fee to watch Spain practice. That is too much for a friendly. But then again, Spain is not my team.
he looks more like a gringo if you ask me anyway 20,000 fans came out to see Shakira and the team of her husband
The update is PR actually scored on its only shot on goal against Spain on a counter. Spain 2-1 end result. LOL.
can't do any better than that, can you and we all hope this game will be a mayor breakthrough for ''futbol'' on the island

Even better. I was going on El Nuevo Dia's story. ("Spain, world and European champion, imposed their elegant style of play clearly, but a goal by collegian Marc Cintron on 65 minutes made them shiver and in the end closed with a tight 2-1 win over the modest but brave selection of Puerto Rico in men's soccer friendly match before nearly 18,000 fans at the Estadio Juan Ramon Loubriel new in Bayamon who were witnesses to history, to see in person to the world's eleventh best.")

Pic..... or it didn't happen. Just trying to goad someone into producing pics from the new (refurb) stadium.
That game apparently disproves my understanding. If they pulled 18,000 into the stadium then the capacity has increased. Good luck to the Islanders trying to fill that park.
Yeah, looks like they put in the extra stands on the far side from the pics. I think the capacity was supposed to be 20000 with the reno's. The Islanders will be happy with 3000-4000 per game, they averaged around 2200? last year. They should use some big tarps with their logo on it to mask off some of the sections/seats that they wont need and centralize their fans.
