Re: Essien a Red Devil at Heart Well, what Dinho said wasn't quite the same, IIRC. Still, if he actually feels this way about the club, it could bode well if we were to bid. Besides, with an idol like Eric Cantona, can you really go wrong?
Re: Essien a Red Devil at Heart Better start warming up his Kung Fu, he can kick his way to Manchester.
Re: Essien a Red Devil at Heart This gives me a great feeling. If we could get him, and he doesnt flop, then i think we are ok in terms of tranfers. If he comes through, i think he will open up the game for Scholes and other attackers. What is IIRC by the way.
Re: Essien a Red Devil at Heart It will be tough for him to play for Chelsea or any other English teams after this.
Re: Essien a Red Devil at Heart If I Recall Correctly. And if we get Essien, I will have a great day and consume much liquid.
Re: Essien a Red Devil at Heart Well, not necessarily. Players like Solskjaer, Denis Irwin, and Norman Whiteside, despite being Old Trafford legends, grew up cheering for none other than Liverpool FC. Roy Keane is well-known to have cheered for Celtic as a boy. It's nice to think that as a professional footballer, the team you've supported your whole life is where you'll end up some day, but it just doesn't work out like that too often. If Chelsea offer more money, he could well end up in blue nonetheless. I just think that if the story is true, it'd fit well into the recent string of SAF's signings.
Re: Essien a Red Devil at Heart If the Glazier family has been monitoring this board, they know what they need to do to get the support of the fans - buy Essien or Gerrard.
Re: Essien a Red Devil at Heart Actually, this board represents a very small section of the United fanbase. Most Bigsoccer United fans are against signing Owen, but a poll by a United fanzine showed that 60% of the fans who voted would welcome Owen at Old Trafford. In fact, if Glazer really wanted the support of the fans, he would've just stayed the ******** away.
Re: Essien a Red Devil at Heart I think we are against buying Owen only if it means that RVN needs to leave. I wouldn't mind getting Owen for under 5 million pounds.
Re: Essien a Red Devil at Heart i think owen is a phenomonal striker who should be given more respect and PT in the spanish captial. that said, WE DONT NEED HIM. we have 4 world class strikers on the books already (5 if you count ole) who can all pick up the scoring mantle quite well assuming we dont have another season in which only the strikers seemingly get injured, and lets be honest the odds of ALL FOUR strikers missing huge time again because of injury are not too good, which will help us a lot. our need is essien who is precisely the engine to get our midfield properly running again
These articles insinuating that Essien is a Red [or is it really the Blues?] at heart is just his agent's tactic to snag the most important color. That of green.
Re: Essien a Red Devil at Heart just did a search, nowhere in that article does it mention the word "agent" or "representative" which i would infer means these are his thoughts to a large extent. is it partially a money grab? sure, what isnt? but at the same time, i honestly do think he likes the club and would prefer to play here all things being equal.
Re: Essien a Red Devil at Heart Roy Keane said on MUTV a couple months ago that he only supports Spurs
Re: Essien a Red Devil at Heart What is it that Arjen Robben's father said? That Robben would only go to Chelsea over his dead body? And yet here he is, alive and well.
Re: Essien a Red Devil at Heart I hardly think Utd have 4 World class strikers, Rooney and RVN could be classed as World Class, but Smith and Saha??!? Behave ya self
Michael Essien has stated his desire to leave French champions Lyon and join Chelsea as soon as possible. http://skysports.planetfootball.com...sien+wants+Chelsea+move&channel=football_home Sorry, I've gotta laugh. What kind of coercion methods are they using at Guantamen...err Chelsea these days? All of a sudden he's 'desperate' to join Chelsea..LOL . Fair play, hopefully this paves the way to Ballack or Baptista for us - reports he is staying in Spain are not even being reported in the Spanish press. Therefore it's bullsh!t from the UK media. I'm sorry if this Essien 'news' is upsetting to anyone but, let's be realistic, he was never coming here once we A) Showed the player ABSOLUTELY ZERO interest i.e not even making a bid for him. B) Remained silent throughout Chelsea's whole process So it is no great shakes. Let's just hope the club are going to know roll out the red carpet for Ballack, eh? Without that special addition we are not winning the league next season.
So yet another player suddenly changes his mind and expresses a love for Chelsea... http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/c/chelsea/4674553.stm
