http://espn.go.com/page2/s/neel/030325.html Tournaments of tournaments. Some guy goes through and ranks the post season tourneys from Baseball to College Hockey to the World Cup. There is a poll there for you input. There is also a section for which you can complain/congrat him on his picks.
I thought his analysis of the World Cup as a whole was pretty accurate. There is too much to take in if you're an interested neutral. That's why most people follow their favorite team until they are eliminated. EDIT: As a total aside, I love that when you mention the World Cup, everyone knows what sport you're referring to. There's just no question. Sachin
Which World Cup is he talking about? The FIBA World Cup, the World Cup of skiing? I guess putting in World Cup of soccer in there is kinda unfair to the others contenders since it would win so easily.
http://proxy.espn.go.com/chat/sportsnation/polling?event_id=202 Here's the direct link to the poll. Let's see if it works. According to the people who've responded so far, the World Cup is the least fair tournament and produces the least deserving champion. Of course, the World Cup takes two-plus years, so it's hard to see how it qualifies as a "post season" event.
Which shows that many Americans appreciate the World Cup - even if they don't "buy" into it themselves. I have to agree that a seven game World Series played over only nine days is about as epic as a championship can get.
