There's more to it than simply turning on a VPN and watching content. Your PC/Phone/Device has data cached about your location. You need to turn that junk off and it's always changing. I used to know how and then something changed it doesn't work for me. I used to be able to use Tunnel Bear, but it doesn't work either. Even after I turn off location services for my phone and clear out my cache.
i have found out the hard way that mlslive now, like netflix, has some way of detecting vpns and does not allow sign in to the mlslive site or any other functioning of the mlslive site while they are on. however unlike netflix they don't actually tell you this is why you are getting errors, it just gives you generic and unhelpfully vague error messages.
Jonathan Tannenwald @thegoalkeeper 8h8 hours ago More An important note on USL streaming: Though the games will be live on ESPN+, they will be available for replay free on YouTube seven days afterward.
Yeah, thought we were still going to have access to the EFL via 3. Thought nothing was supposed to change from what we currently have access to. Knew it was too good to be true. Thx, Jay!
Yeap unfortunately you are correct. I did however manage to make it work somehow on my laptop by: 1) going to https://live.mlssoccer.com/login and login in. 2) only then activating my VPN and starting the desired stream Note: I was unsuccessful doing the same so on my iDevices despite trying VPNs, Locations on/off though.
If you know anyone who will watch a soccer match seven days later, let me know. I guess it makes sense. The league is maturing, and while just seven years ago, your only option was the Fox Soccer Game of the Week, every game has been available for free online for the last couple of years. But USL made a massive investment in the infrastructure necessary to pull that off and, to be fair, it's been good. It only makes sense they'd monetize it (which, I'm going to guess- and it's only a guess, but an educated one - that ESPN will at least be tithing a piece of subscriber fees from ESPN+ based on views back to USL.). I'm also assuming ESPN+ is going to be a pay thing, right? I'm too lazy to go back upthread and look, it's going to be a monthly recurring charge, right?
Perhaps a stupid question, is this one of those deals where you have to have a cable provider to access it? Or is that not necessary?
No, this is a stand-alone service that doesn’t require anything else. But be aware that this also means that this service does not include the MLS games that you can get on regular TV coverage (local market and national games).
Funny thing is, I have a cable provider and have access to all this right now. Starting next week the value of my cable subscription plummets immensely. I plan to contact them to register my displeasure. Thx, Jay!
Well, MLS Live let you see the blacked out games after 2 days. But I have no idea how ESPN+ will handle that. Does anyone else know?
No. I have access to everything currently on ESPN3 right now. Come Thursday I won’t. Therefore I shouldn’t be paying as much in my cable bill. Thx, Jay!
Cable companies can't stop ESPN+ from charging or from channels with sports like One World Sports and American Sports Network ceasing to exist. New channels get created. What you get from your cable company isn't straightforward like an electric bill that doesn't have many components.
Cable companies can ask to have the $7 per sub rate lowered if the network isn’t delivering the same value it was a week or two ago. Thx, Jay!
MLS app still shows they’re one of the places to watch all of this weekend’s games. Let’s hope the free awesomeness from this season continues.
