It's not every week that a show can come up with a skit that inspires similar variations in later episodes. -G
Today: Snow vs. Sand. The episode is scheduled to air later than usual, though, so don't forget to set your VCR and/or DVR accordingly. -G
Which was co-hosted by... Ryan Seacrest. Also returning to once again try and take back Cheap Seats was... [result]...Ron Parker, though in the end he failed yet again.[/result] -G
On wednesday I was going to tape the part 2 of the 1996 Spelling Bee and instead they showed 2 episodes I hadn't seen. The 1998 Corporate sports battle and Amazing sports which are apparently new episodes. The 1998 even had Michael Ian Black and the other guy so it was a continuation from their 1990 Sports battle. Plus I think saturday they had some College Bowling show which I forgot to tape. I wonder if ESPN is showing them out of line or if they made too many episodes or what is the deal there.
Nice catch. Too bad I missed them , though I'm sure they'll be broadcast those new episodes and other ones in the regular Monday timeslots in the coming weeks. Did they show them on ESPN Classic or on one of the other ESPN channels last week? -G
It seems that you indeed got a sneek-peek of the next few Monday episodes. Today: 1998 Battle of the Corporate Stars. -G
Caught it last night. Hilarious that Jason & Randy did 2 raps (original & remix) about a female bowler named Rapp. Even funnier that they made references to Bruce Arena & Zizzou.
As well as a reference to My Name is Earl. It seemed like Jason & Randy took the Pam Minnick rap format one step further as they went on location around New York City in the videos. From what I hear, at least a part of next week's episode involves soccer. -G
Today's episode: International Toughmen. Featuring Florentine soccer, Thai kickboxing and Mongolian wrestling. -G
Funny that my HD-DVR onscreen had "Florentine soccer" written, but it was called "Florentine football" by Randy & Jason, as well as by the actual announcer in the segment. In any case, it really resembled a more violent version of rugby than anything else. -G
According to the "Fall Preview" article in the 9/25/06 issue of ESPN The Magazine, it does appear that the Monday, November 20th episode of Cheap Seats will be the series finale. -G
(While dispaying a screenful of 0-1 results): "Did anyone win a match?" "I haven't seen this many zeros in a win column since the magical U.S. run of the 2006 World Cup." Ouch! ... -G
