This is doable. Just as long as DC doesn't get both Clark and Eski !! :)

There's talk of JMM going to Rev and having to get an allocation in the process. Vaca is still a possibility. I love this sh|t!! I wish I was a fly on the wall at MLS HQ (or KC) to hear the conversations going on.

Bad trade in my mind. I'd rather have Clark than Eskie anyway. While it makes for a nice story, Clark sounds like he is going to one hell of a defensive midfielder. Teaming him up with Vaca would create quite a tandem in central midfield for years to come.

In another thread, I asked whether to trade the #2 for DC's #5 and #14. I just convinced myself to hold onto the #2.

Clark is good, but if Eski's there we gotta get him!

Not a good idea, IMO. The overwhelming consensus is that Clark is an impact player, this season and in the future. So we miss out on an impact player this season and the next draft to get 1 player.

Let DC take Eskandarian. When he gets no playing time because DC has too many forwards he'll ask to be traded and MLS headquarters will want this as well. Then we trade our #1 pick for 2004 for Esky.

This way we get Clark right away and Esky midseason.

This was kind of my thinking (although I don't think we'd get Esky until next season). If Alecko won't be starting, I would rather have a veteran on the bench for a late game substitution (Gio!) instead of a rookie. That was one of our problems last year, if we got behind, we only had defenders or d-mids on the bench for subs.

I wonder...if Eski wasn't the son of Eski the Cosmo would we be as worked up over him or would we just be saying, "If DC takes Eski , we'll take McGee (or whomever)". Obviously, the emotions for Eski run very deep because he is a local player and because of the family name.

That said, I still hope we find a way to acquire him.

This is definitely the case. Thomas is an impact defender, Clark is an impact mid, and Jaqua is a highly rated forward. I actually wonder if Jaqua might make a more immediate impact because of his size. We should not trade away a top pick to get Eski.
