http://www.metrostars.com/gameday/2003/10112003.htm#cup HAHA! You thought I was talking about the Open Cup, didn't you?
So you guys do care about the cup: Now what would really be fun is if the supporters each got a "Day With the Cup" like the Stanley Cup. BTW, what was up with that picture? That looked like a strange photoshop job. Sachin
That picture shows us at the height of 10 minutes of anti-dc chants, hamming it for the camera. It doesn't show us 10 minutes later with the cup on a seat where it sat for the next 40 minutes of the game and 2 overtimes. We passed it around, drank from it, touched it, and put it down. So, we "cared" for 10 minutes. I can see you calling it hypocritical, and in a sense you have a beef. It was my call, and I thought having the GM come down, shake a few hands, pass the cup around and take it back wouldn't kill us. If there are those out there to think it ruins our street cred, so be it. I stand by my earlier statements that it is a meaningless trophy, and that we look to win a real one on Wednesday. All I can say is that if you are a virgin and someone offers you a hummer, you take it, smile while it happens, and move on. We all still want to go all the way, this was a mere blip, one on which we will no longer dwell.
So does that mean ESC slept with the ugly sister Saturday so the rest of us could get with the hot one on Wednesday? I guess you guys took one for the team.
More like talking the talk, or typing the type, and not walking the walk. Admit it, you all are a bunch of NYR Metros at heart.
I think the question that we all need answered (or at least I need) is, hypothetically Bigfoot, if someone were to take a dump in the cup, would you be the one to clean it out before you put it on the shelf next to Nick's scale model of his Jaguar?
